DescriptionThe whole story▼

The first Tuono with a V4 engine arrived for 2011, when Aprilia put the RSV4's engine into a naked bike with a small headlight fairing and a tubular handlebar. Many of those machines are now with their second or third owner. The Accossato EDB080 is a brake lever for the Tuono V4 R and Tuono V4 R APRC of 2011 to 2016: CNC-machined aluminium, mounted on the original master cylinder, with a distance to the grip you can set yourself. On a used bike, it is also a chance to start afresh at the part your right hand touches most.

Key Features

  • Brake lever for the Aprilia Tuono V4 R and V4 R APRC, 2011 to 2016
  • Mounts on the original master cylinder
  • Adjustable reach to the grip
  • Blade in short, standard (approx. 138 mm) or long, depending on colour
  • Seven blade colours on a black hub
  • Machined from solid aluminium, anodised
  • No folding joint
  • No German ABE documented, track use

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato machines the EDB080 from solid aluminium and then anodises it, leaving the hub black and giving the blade its colour. The hub is where the lever pivots and where the reach adjuster sits; beyond it, the blade continues in one piece without a hinge. A new lever of this kind also brings a fresh pivot bore, which counts on an older bike, because the original lever may by now have picked up wear or knocks that make it feel less crisp than it did when new.

A Checklist for the Second Owner

When a Tuono V4 R changes hands, the controls tell part of its story. A bent or scraped brake lever usually means the bike has been on the ground at some point, so look at the bar end, footpeg and fairing edge on the same side. The master cylinder should be dry, with no weeping around the seals, and the fluid in its reservoir should not have turned dark. Once those points are settled, a new lever is one of the simplest ways to make the front brake feel like yours. Adjust the reach wearing the gloves you ride in, then test the brake at walking pace before the first real ride: the brake light must come on as soon as the lever moves, and a small amount of free play should remain before the pads grip. The black hub and coloured blade of the EDB080 also let a new owner add a personal touch to the Tuono V4 R APRC, with every colour available in the standard length.

Fitment and Compatibility

The EDB080 is catalogued for the 1000 cc Tuono V4 generation from 2011 to 2016, under several version names, among them Tuono 1000 V4 R and RSV 1000 Tuono V4R. It replaces the original lever on the Tuono V4 R's own front master cylinder. Accossato pairs it with the ESV004 clutch lever for the same model years. Short blades exist in blue, gold, green, orange and silver, long ones in blue, gold, green and orange only.

Road Approval

Road use in Germany is not covered by any documented ABE for this lever, so we sell it for track riding.
