Sprint Filter P08 Air Filter for Road & Track – Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 (2024–2026) PM293S

Three Sprint Filter elements are made for this housing and no more: the P08 shown here, the finer P14 for dusty work, and the P08 F1-85 drawn up for racing. The code that served the previous Svartpilen was also offered in an extreme-conditions cloth; the successor code is not. That narrows the decision to three, and for a road-registered single the middle one is also the sensible default. PM293S is the part number for the 2024-on 401.

Three media, one decision

Finer cloth holds more back and lets less through. That is a trade, never a ranking. The P14 works at 14 microns and 1,800 litres per square metre per second; the F1-85 sits at 85 microns and 15,000; this element falls between them at 80 and 5,050. The racing cloth asks a little over twice the price of the P08 and returns flow that a road-legal single calls on in brief bursts if at all. The P14 buys retention and pays in flow, which is money well spent on gravel and in dry dust. Sprint Filter draws the P08 for road and track use, which is the description this particular bike answers to.

The medium that is not in this range

Sprint Filter has not listed its extreme-conditions cloth for the 2024-on machines, although the earlier code carried it. Whatever lies behind that, the practical effect is simple enough: the dusty end of this housing is covered by the P14 and there is nothing beyond it. That suits a bike styled for rough surfaces but registered for the road. And no panel filter turns a production single into a quicker motorcycle. The honest claim is a restriction that begins low and does not climb the way a loading paper element does.

Care and cleaning

Blow the element out with compressed air from the clean side, working toward the dirty face. Warm water and a small amount of mild washing-up liquid deal with whatever the air leaves behind; carry on rinsing until the run-off is clean. Dry it in still air, well clear of any heat source or flame, and fit it only once the weave is completely dry. There is no oiling step. Made for the Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 from 2024 to 2026. Seven entries across the 2024-on Husqvarna and KTM singles use this element; the Fitment tab holds the list. A Svartpilen 401 built up to 2023 runs a different Sprint Filter code and is not covered here.
