How to measure your helmet size correctly: To find the right helmet size, measure your head circumference with a flexible tape measure.
It is important that the tape measure runs around the widest part of the head – only then will you get a correct result.
Place the tape measure at the front, about 1–2 cm above the eyebrows, and run it along the sides above the ears.
At the back, the tape must run over the largest part of the back of the head (not too low on the neck). The tape may run slightly at an angle – what matters is that it sits all the way around the largest points of the head.
Make sure the tape measure sits snugly but does not dig in. Measure 2–3 times for the most accurate result. You can then compare the measured value in centimetres (cm) with our size chart.
Tips for an accurate result
- Keep hair flat (e.g. do not measure over a voluminous hairstyle)
- Keep the tape horizontal, i.e. along the largest circumference
- Do not measure too loosely
- For values between two sizes:
→ usually choose the larger size (depending on helmet model / fit)
Important note on fit
The right helmet should fit firmly without causing uncomfortable pressure points.
A new helmet may feel a little tighter at first, as the inner lining adapts slightly over time.

For riders who cover real miles day in, day out, the Shark Skwal Cup in Dark Shadow KMA delivers a genuinely practical package: ECE 22.06 certification, a built-in sun visor operable with gloves on, and a Pinlock-ready Optical Class 1 visor — all in an understated matte finish that looks as good on a commute as it does on a weekend tour.
Key Features
- ECE 22.06 certified — meets the latest EU road safety standard for confident, legal riding across Europe
- Polycarbonate shell in two shell sizes, keeping the helmet proportionate and the weight to 1,587 g (±50 g) for all-day wearability
- Integrated drop-down sun visor operated via a thumb slider — works effortlessly through gloves, no fumbling at traffic lights
- Optical Class 1 visor: scratch-resistant, UV-protected, and supplied with a Pinlock insert for fog-free vision in rain or cold
- Alveotec antibacterial liner — removable and machine-washable, staying fresh whether you're doing a short commute or a multi-day tour
- Speaker pockets and spectacle-friendly cheek pads mean the Skwal Cup integrates smoothly with intercom systems and works with glasses wearers
- Double-D ring retention — race-proven and reliable, day after day
Shell Construction and Protection
The Skwal Cup's outer shell is formed from high-impact polycarbonate, chosen for its balance of rigidity, energy absorption and durability over long service life. Two shell sizes ensure the helmet sits correctly on smaller and larger heads alike, rather than relying on excessive padding to compensate for a single oversized shell. The integrated rear spoiler is wind-tunnel developed, adding aerodynamic stability at motorway speeds without adding unnecessary bulk.
Ventilation System
Shark's engineers have designed a three-stage ventilation system that keeps the cabin comfortable whether you're filtering through city traffic or cruising at speed. One crown intake draws fresh air across the top of the head, the chin vent manages airflow across the visor and face, and multiple rear exhaust ports maintain a continuous through-flow. Internal EPS channelling distributes air evenly around the liner, preventing hot spots from building up on longer rides.
Visor and Visibility
The Optical Class 1 main visor provides a wide, distortion-free field of view — critical when you need to pick up hazards early. The scratch-resistant, UV-protective coating protects your eyes on long sunny days, and the included Pinlock insert creates a double-glazed barrier against fogging in wet or cold conditions. The noise-reducing visor seal contributes to a quieter helmet at speed, reducing fatigue on longer journeys. The integrated tinted sun visor drops down in seconds via a slider on the left side of the chin bar — a feature that removes the need to carry or swap separate tinted visors.
Interior Comfort and Everyday Practicality
Shark's Alveotec foam liner is the standout comfort feature for everyday use. Breathable, soft and treated with an antibacterial finish, it resists odour build-up even through daily commutes in warm weather. The entire cheek pad and liner assembly is fully removable for washing — a straightforward process that keeps the helmet hygienic over years of use. Spectacle channels are routed into the cheek pads so glasses arms sit without pressure points, and pre-cut speaker cavities mean fitting a Bluetooth intercom is a matter of minutes rather than modifications. The chin curtain and breath guard reduce wind noise at the chin bar and limit visor misting from breath — two details that make a meaningful difference on cooler mornings.
Dark Shadow KMA Colourway
The Dark Shadow KMA finish is a restrained, matte black with a subtle dual-tone graphic treatment. It suits any motorcycle — naked, sport-tourer, adventure — without looking out of place, and the matte surface hides minor surface marks better than a gloss finish, which is a practical bonus for helmets used every day. The HE6501 graphic keeps the look contemporary without being loud, fitting the ethos of a rider who values performance over showmanship.
Size Guide
| Size | Head circumference |
|---|---|
| XS | 53–54 cm |
| S | 55–56 cm |
| M | 57–58 cm |
| L | 59–60 cm |
| XL | 61–62 cm |
| XXL | 63–64 cm |
Measure your head approximately 1 cm above your ears at the widest point to find your correct size. If you are between sizes, size down — the liner will compress and settle with use.
