About this tint
Gold is one of five Iridium colours Shark offers for this visor, named Iridium Gold in the Range Book 2027. The mirrored surface sends part of the light straight back, which tames glare from bright concrete, white lines and chrome-like reflections off wet patches after a shower. From the outside, the visor reads as a warm gold sheen.
Whether gold suits you better than silver, red, blue or rainbow is a visual question. Shark does not state a difference in light reduction between the colours. Gold is a classic match for black helmets and for bikes with gold-coloured wheels or fork tubes.
Road or track
Shark lists Iridium Gold for the OXO as racing use only in the Range Book 2027, page 38. Shark does not release it for road use.
For road riding the family offers a light tinted visor, VZ39016P TE50, which Shark approves for daytime use, and a clear VZ39016P for all users. If you prefer a darker non-mirrored option on track, Shark lists the dark smoked VZ39011P for the large shell, also as racing use only.
Fitting
Changing to gold before a session takes no tools: Shark specifies a quick-release visor with a central lock. The Pinlock housing is integrated in the visor, so if you use a Pinlock lens, fit the OXO part VZ39005P and adjust its tension as Shark provides for.
Which shell do I have
This visor is made for the large OXO shell. The gold mirror for the small shell is a separate part, VZ39030P with SKU VZ39030PGLDTU, identical in tint and different in size.
Large shells usually belong to the upper end of the OXO size run, though we do not have Shark's size-by-shell table. Check the number on the visor you already have, or ask us with your helmet size before you order.
Ordering by part number
Part number VZ39031P, tint code GLD, SKU VZ39031PGLDTU. EAN 3664836892641. Customs tariff 3926906000. Shark's own line in the supplier list is VISOR ANTISCRATCH IRIDIUM LARGE SHELL, which confirms the shell size once more.
Care
Heat, sun cream on gloves and insect splatter are the usual enemies of a gold coating in summer. Clean with lukewarm water and a mild soap solution, lay a wet cloth over dried insects first, and avoid glass cleaner or solvents entirely. Keep the visor out of direct sun in the car when it is not on the helmet.
