Öhlins uses a piston band rather than metal-to-metal contact, which is what keeps the bore intact.

Key Features

Original Öhlins service part

Öhlins part number 05564-02

Function

There is no measurement to check here — the number and the exploded view identify it. A worn piston band lets oil past the outside of the piston, which shows up as damping that has gone soft. Valves and needles set the adjustable part of the damping; the piston sets the rest. A worn valve bleeds damping away without any visible symptom.

Why the Original

Öhlins is one of the few suspension makers that still supplies every position in the exploded view as a single part. Rebuilding to specification only works if the parts are to specification — that starts here. For a full rebuild, the seal kit plus the wear parts is usually the sensible order. Order by part number. The dimensions below are the ones Öhlins publishes for it.

Identifying the Right Part

Öhlins identifies this position by the number 05564-02 in the exploded view for the unit it belongs to. Where no measurement is given, the drawing position is what identifies the part. A worn valve bleeds damping away without any visible symptom. Öhlins machines the ports rather than casting them, so the edges stay sharp and the flow predictable.

Fitting and Setup Service

Ask us about a full service: as an authorised Öhlins centre we strip, inspect, replace what is worn and set the unit back to its specification.

Specifications

Brand: Öhlins

Part Number: 05564-02

Category: Valves

Country of Origin: Sweden

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0949/7831/0410/files/05564-02_c4dc705d-e3cd-4367-ba48-224f240c192f.png?v=1788874355
