Key Features

- Dimension B 45 mm
- Original Öhlins service part
- Öhlins part number 21036-01
Where It Sits
The published figures are 51 mm, 45 mm. Measure the old part against them before ordering. These are the parts that are easy to lose on the bench and impossible to improvise afterwards. Öhlins specifies thread-locking compound by position; not every fastener wants it. Circlips hold axial position under load; a sprung one lets the assembly walk.
Genuine Service Part
A damper that can be rebuilt is a damper that stays on the bike; that is the whole argument for original service parts. Rebuilding to specification only works if the parts are to specification — that starts here. We can check the number against the Öhlins exploded view before you order — just ask. Öhlins parts are unit-specific: a close dimension is not a substitute.
Getting the Number Right
Part number 21036-01 is unambiguous; the description alone is not, because Öhlins uses similar wording across sizes. The published dimensions are dimension a 51 mm, dimension b 45 mm — measure the old part against them if you are unsure. These are the parts that are easy to lose on the bench and impossible to improvise afterwards. A spacer that is a millimetre short changes the preload on a shim stack, and with it the damping.
Fitting and Setup Service
A damper rebuild is workshop work: it needs the unit dismantled, the shim stack rebuilt in the correct order and the gas charge reset. We are an authorised Öhlins service centre and do exactly that in house — send us the unit or ask us to fit the part with your order.
