What It Is
Öhlins publishes 18 mm, 13.3 mm, 1.5 mm for 02259-01 — the dimensions are the identity of the part. Pins and dowels locate parts to each other; without them the assembly is merely clamped, not positioned. Stainless where corrosion matters, hardened where load matters — the choice is made per position. Small parts are cheap until one of them is missing on a Friday afternoon.
Genuine Service Part
The alternative to a service part is usually a new damper, which is why this catalogue exists. The tolerances here are the ones the unit was assembled to, not a pattern equivalent's interpretation of them. Where a number has been superseded, Öhlins states the replacement — we pass that on. Ask us before ordering if you are unsure: a wrong part in a pressurised unit is an expensive lesson.
How to Be Sure It Fits
If the unit is already open, compare the dimensions below with the part in your hand before ordering 02259-01. dimension a 18 mm, dimension b 13.3 mm, dimension c 1.5 mm is what distinguishes this number from its neighbours in the range. Ordering the small parts with the seal kit saves the second delivery that most rebuilds otherwise need. Öhlins publishes them in the exploded view so a workshop can order the whole position at once.
Fitting and Setup Service
A damper rebuild is workshop work: it needs the unit dismantled, the shim stack rebuilt in the correct order and the gas charge reset. We are an authorised Öhlins service centre and do exactly that in house — send us the unit or ask us to fit the part with your order.
