What It Is
This one measures 12 mm, 30 mm, 2 mm, and those figures are what separate it from the neighbouring numbers. Ordering the small parts with the seal kit saves the second delivery that most rebuilds otherwise need. Shoulder screws set a clearance as well as clamping, which is why the length is exact. Spacers set the internal geometry of the unit, which means their length is a specification and not a filler.
Why the Original
Suspension is one of the few areas where the original part is genuinely the cheaper decision. Öhlins supports units that are decades old, which is why the spare parts list runs to thousands of numbers. If you are between two sizes, send us the measurement and we will check it against the catalogue. Öhlins numbers do not follow a logic you can guess — always read them from the documentation.
Identifying the Right Part
03144-02 is the Öhlins number for this position — the same one printed in the service documentation. dimension a 12 mm, dimension b 30 mm, dimension c 2 mm is what distinguishes this number from its neighbours in the range. A plug that seals a gas port is a pressure part despite its size. A spacer sets an internal dimension: preload on a stack, free length, or the position of a piston.
Fitting and Setup Service
Fitting service parts means opening a pressurised unit. As an authorised Öhlins service centre we do that here, with the right tools and a dyno check afterwards — just ask.
