Seal head assy 14/36, Öhlins part number 21025-03. The bushing inside carries the side load so the seal only has to seal.
Key Features
- Öhlins part number 21025-03
- Inner Diameter 14 mm
- Outer Diameter 36 mm
- Original Öhlins service part
What It Is
Öhlins gives it as 14 mm, 36 mm; nothing about that is approximate. Static seals and dynamic seals are not interchangeable even in the same size. A weeping damper almost always starts here. O-ring sizes are given as inner diameter and cross-section, and both have to match — a close size is not a match.
Original Öhlins Part
An original part keeps the unit within its published specification; a near-equivalent quietly moves it. Buying the individual part rather than a complete assembly is what makes servicing an Öhlins unit worthwhile. We can supply the whole position from the drawing rather than the single piece if that is easier. The Öhlins exploded view names the number for each position; we can look it up if you do not have it.
Identifying the Right Part
Order under 21025-03. Where several sizes share a description, only the number separates them. Öhlins states inner diameter 14 mm, outer diameter 36 mm for this number, and those figures are the deciding ones. Replacing seals at service intervals is far cheaper than replacing what a failed seal damages. A leaking damper is not a cosmetic problem: it is a damper that has stopped controlling the wheel.
Fitting and Setup Service
A damper rebuild is workshop work: it needs the unit dismantled, the shim stack rebuilt in the correct order and the gas charge reset. We are an authorised Öhlins service centre and do exactly that in house — send us the unit or ask us to fit the part with your order.
