Function
At 14 mm, 37 mm, 54 mm it fits one position only; the next size up carries a different number. Play at a bushing lets the shaft run off centre and the seal wears unevenly. Bushings carry the side load so the seal only has to seal. Sleeves position parts axially and often set the preload on a stack.
Genuine Service Part
Öhlins is one of the few suspension makers that still supplies every position in the exploded view as a single part. Suspension is one of the few areas where the original part is genuinely the cheaper decision. Öhlins numbers do not follow a logic you can guess — always read them from the documentation. The Öhlins exploded view names the number for each position; we can look it up if you do not have it.
How to Be Sure It Fits
If the unit is already open, compare the dimensions below with the part in your hand before ordering 25608-05. The published dimensions are inner diameter 14 mm, outer diameter 37 mm, length 54 mm — measure the old part against them if you are unsure. Play at a bushing lets the shaft run off centre and the seal wears unevenly. Inner and outer diameter both matter; a bushing that is a little loose does more damage than none at all.
