- Dimension A 14 mm
What It Is
Öhlins gives it as 14 mm, 80 mm, 18 mm; nothing about that is approximate. End caps seal the unit and carry the adjusters; they are matched to the tube they close. A worn eye bearing is often mistaken for worn damping. The eye takes the entire load path from wheel to chassis.
Original Öhlins Part
The tolerances here are the ones the unit was assembled to, not a pattern equivalent's interpretation of them. Öhlins manufactures service parts on the same lines as production parts — there is no second quality. Order by part number — descriptions repeat across sizes, numbers do not. If you are between two sizes, send us the measurement and we will check it against the catalogue.
Identifying the Right Part
Öhlins identifies this position by the number 03154-04 in the exploded view for the unit it belongs to. Check dimension a 14 mm, dimension b 80 mm, dimension c 18 mm against what you have removed; a close size is not the same part. End caps seal the unit and carry the adjusters; they are matched to the tube they close. The end eye carries the entire load of the damper into the chassis, which is why it is machined rather than cast.
Fitting and Setup Service
Öhlins recommends that its units are serviced by an authorised centre. We are one: rebuild, revalve and setup all happen in our own workshop.
