Function
At 12 mm, 83 mm, 21 mm it fits one position only; the next size up carries a different number. Eye width and bore diameter both have to match the chassis mount. Eye width and bore diameter both have to match the chassis mount. The end eye carries the entire load of the damper into the chassis, which is why it is machined rather than cast.
Genuine Service Part
An original part keeps the unit within its published specification; a near-equivalent quietly moves it. Öhlins is one of the few suspension makers that still supplies every position in the exploded view as a single part. Ask us before ordering if you are unsure: a wrong part in a pressurised unit is an expensive lesson. Order by part number — descriptions repeat across sizes, numbers do not.
Getting the Number Right
03153-30 is the Öhlins number for this position — the same one printed in the service documentation. The published dimensions are dimension a 12 mm, dimension b 83 mm, dimension c 21 mm — measure the old part against them if you are unsure. A worn eye bearing is often mistaken for tired damping. A worn end eye bearing is a common source of rear-end vagueness that gets blamed on damping.
Fitting and Setup Service
We are an authorised Öhlins service centre, so you do not have to source the tools and the nitrogen: send us the damper and we rebuild it with the correct parts and the correct setting.
