Needle geometry sets the shape of the adjustable range, not just its size.

Key Features

Öhlins part number 15418-03

Original Öhlins service part

What It Is

There is no measurement to check here — the number and the exploded view identify it. If it sticks open, the damper loses low-speed damping entirely. Piston bands are consumables — they wear against the bore and lose their seal gradually. A check valve lets oil refill the working chamber without passing the shim stack.

Why the Original

Suspension is one of the few areas where the original part is genuinely the cheaper decision. Öhlins manufactures service parts on the same lines as production parts — there is no second quality. If the unit is already apart, compare the published dimensions with the part in your hand. We can check the number against the Öhlins exploded view before you order — just ask.

How to Be Sure It Fits

Part number 15418-03 is unambiguous; the description alone is not, because Öhlins uses similar wording across sizes. Öhlins does not publish a dimension here — go by the number and the exploded view. The seat face has to be flat enough for the first shim to seal against it. Öhlins uses a light spring so the valve reacts to shaft speed rather than to pressure alone.

Fitting and Setup Service

A damper rebuild is workshop work: it needs the unit dismantled, the shim stack rebuilt in the correct order and the gas charge reset. We are an authorised Öhlins service centre and do exactly that in house — send us the unit or ask us to fit the part with your order.

Specifications

Brand: Öhlins

Part Number: 15418-03

Category: Check Valves

Country of Origin: Sweden

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0949/7831/0410/files/15418-03_5cca153e-6f10-4502-b7f3-5e0e760c6eee.png?v=1788878741
