DescriptionThe whole story▼
Base valve adjuster 1.5mm 2-way, Öhlins part number 02491-03. Öhlins builds click adjusters with defined detents so a setting can be written down and returned to.
Key Features
- Öhlins part number 02491-03
- Original Öhlins service part
Function
There is no measurement to check here — the number and the exploded view identify it. Hydraulic preload adjusters are sealed units and are replaced rather than opened. An adjuster that turns without resistance has lost its detent; the setting is then guesswork. Öhlins specifies a defined number of clicks per adjuster so a setting is a number, not an impression.
Genuine Service Part
Every part in this catalogue is one Öhlins fits itself during assembly and service. Öhlins supports units that are decades old, which is why the spare parts list runs to thousands of numbers. Tell us the damper's model designation and year and we will match the number for you. If you are between two sizes, send us the measurement and we will check it against the catalogue.
Identifying the Right Part
Part number 02491-03 is unambiguous; the description alone is not, because Öhlins uses similar wording across sizes. Öhlins does not publish a dimension here — go by the number and the exploded view. Öhlins publishes the click count for each unit, and a rebuilt adjuster should return it. A worn adjuster loses its clicks, and with them any chance of a methodical setup.
Fitting and Setup Service
A damper rebuild is workshop work: it needs the unit dismantled, the shim stack rebuilt in the correct order and the gas charge reset. We are an authorised Öhlins service centre and do exactly that in house — send us the unit or ask us to fit the part with your order.
