Adjuster shaft 132/4.3, Öhlins part number 03566-70. Hydraulic preload adjusters are sealed units and are replaced rather than opened.
Key Features
- Dimension B 4.3 mm
- Öhlins part number 03566-70
- Dimension A 132 mm
- Original Öhlins service part
Where It Sits
Öhlins gives it as 132 mm, 4.3 mm; nothing about that is approximate. The needle tip is the wear part: once rounded, the first few clicks stop doing anything. An adjuster that turns without resistance has lost its detent; the setting is then guesswork. Hydraulic preload adjusters are sealed and pressurised; they are replaced as a unit.
Why the Original
The tolerances here are the ones the unit was assembled to, not a pattern equivalent's interpretation of them. Every part in this catalogue is one Öhlins fits itself during assembly and service. Öhlins parts are unit-specific: a close dimension is not a substitute. The Öhlins exploded view names the number for each position; we can look it up if you do not have it.
Identifying the Right Part
If the unit is already open, compare the dimensions below with the part in your hand before ordering 03566-70. Öhlins states dimension a 132 mm, dimension b 4.3 mm for this number, and those figures are the deciding ones. Click adjusters work through a needle in a seat; the detent spring gives the clicks their feel. An adjuster that turns without resistance has lost its detent; the setting is then guesswork.
Fitting and Setup Service
If you would rather not open the damper yourself, we can do it — we are an authorised Öhlins service centre and rebuild these units as a matter of routine.
