Size chart MT Helmets Genesis R SV
| Size | Head circumference (cm) | Head circumference (inch) |
|---|---|---|
| XS | 53–54 cm | 20.9–21.3 in |
| S | 55–56 cm | 21.7–22.0 in |
| M | 57–58 cm | 22.4–22.8 in |
| L | 59–60 cm | 23.2–23.6 in |
| XL | 61–62 cm | 24.0–24.4 in |
| XXL | 63–64 cm | 24.8–25.2 in |

How to measure your helmet size correctly: Measure your head circumference with a flexible tape around the widest part of the head, about 1–2 cm above the eyebrows. Measure 2–3 times and compare with the chart. Between sizes, usually choose the larger size.
Important note on fit
The right helmet should fit firmly without uncomfortable pressure points. A new helmet may feel a little tighter at first, as the inner lining adapts slightly over time.

Matt black over graphite, with three red chevrons stepping across the flank and a fourth over the crown. Vibe B5 is the sober version of MT's Genesis R SV, and the first thing worth saying about this helmet is something MT has not published.
MT does not publish a weight for this helmet
There is no gram figure for the Genesis R SV anywhere in MT's own material, and we are not going to invent one to fill the gap.
What we can say honestly: it is a modular helmet on a HIRP shell, and MT's comparable modular, the Atom 2 SV, is around 1,700 g. A flip-up of this construction will be in that region. That is a bracket, not a measurement, and we have flagged it as an estimate in our own data rather than printing a number as if it were a fact. If a precise figure matters to your decision, ask us and we will weigh one before it ships.
Why a helmet's weight is worth asking about at all
It matters less than most buyers think and in a different place than they expect. Seated upright, your spine carries a helmet nearly vertically and 200 g is close to imperceptible. It shows up when your neck is extended — on a sports bike, or looking over your shoulder — and at the end of a long day, when the muscles holding the mass have been working for six hours.
A modular is always heavier than the equivalent full-face because a hinge, a latch and their reinforcement have to weigh something. That is the trade the category exists on, and no manufacturer avoids it.
About the Vibe B5 finish
Matt throughout. The chin bar and the lower shell are black; the crown and the rear lift into a mid graphite carrying a fine dotted texture, and three red chevrons step diagonally across the flank with a fourth crossing the crown. GENESIS is lettered small in red near the visor mechanism.
Chevrons pointing forward is a deliberate choice, not a random one: on a shell this size a repeated forward form makes the helmet look longer and lower than it is, which is the opposite of what a modular's extra bulk does on its own.
ECE 22.06 · no DOT
The Genesis R SV clears the current European standard, mandatory since January 2024: 18 impact points instead of the 22.05's five, several impact speeds, an oblique impact against an abrasive anvil measuring rotational loading, and a Brain Injury Criterion ceiling.
MT publishes no DOT marking for this model. Several of their other helmets carry one; this one, on the evidence available, does not.
P or J: not published either
ECE 22.06 marks modular helmets P (chin bar protective, ride closed), J (ride open) or both, on the label sewn into the chin strap. MT does not state which applies here.
So ride it closed. The chin bar is for lifting at a standstill. If riding open matters to you specifically, read the strap label rather than take anyone's word for it.
The chin bar
The Genesis R SV uses a modular structure with a locking system: the bar rotates up and back over the crown, and the latch engages when it comes down.
The check worth making on any flip-up is how it closes, not how it opens. The bar should seat and latch in one movement, audibly, without needing to be helped. A mechanism that wants two hands is one you will eventually ride with unlatched.
Sun visor and screen
An integrated drop-down sun visor is built in, and the screen is the 935, with a wide field of view and preparation for Pinlock DKS279 or DKS002.
No Pinlock insert is supplied, and no tinted screen.
Ventilation, and the limit every flip-up shares
Air enters at the chin bar and the brow and leaves at the rear.
The structural limit is worth stating because it is not a fault of this helmet: a modular's chin bar carries a hinge, a latch and a seal through exactly the area a fixed full-face uses for a large chin intake. Every flip-up ventilates the face a little less well than a comparable full-face, and no manufacturer has solved it. The practical workaround is the same on every modular — a visor cracked open a few millimetres does more for the inside of a screen than any chin vent, on any helmet.
Where it sits against the Atom 2 SV
MT builds two modulars in this part of the range, and the Genesis R SV is the more affordable.
What the Atom 2 SV adds for the difference: a Pinlock insert in the box, a DOT marking alongside the ECE, an MT-FSOS visor mechanism with a defined anti-fog position, a chin curtain as standard, and a sun visor aligned with the nose deflector. What the Genesis gives you is the same modular convenience and the same current standard for less. If you ride through winter, the supplied Pinlock and the anti-fog detent on the Atom are worth the step; if you ride in fair weather, they are not.
Retention and interior
A micrometric ratchet holds the strap, and the lining lifts out completely for washing, with recesses moulded in for intercom speakers.
Hand-wash the pads in lukewarm water and dry them away from radiators. Never in a machine: the foam inside is closed-cell and comes back from a spin cycle permanently flatter, which quietly turns the helmet into a size too large.
What it does not have
- No published weight. See above — we will not estimate one as if it were measured.
- No DOT marking published.
- No P/J marking published.
- No safety rating. SHARP has not tested the Genesis R SV; modular helmets are rarely in the programme.
