DescriptionThe whole story▼

An MT-10 has no bodywork to sacrifice, so the hit goes straight to the hard parts. The WAPYA411 fits front and rear on the MT-10, built from an elastic nylon body and an Ergal insert. It is offered in 6 colours: Black, Blue, Gold, Grey, Red, Silver. The 998 cc MT-10 carries it on standard fixings, so nothing is drilled.

Key Features

  • 200 g for the complete WAPYA411 kit
  • Protects the fork bottoms and swingarm ends of the MT-10 in a low-speed fall
  • The insert changes without pulling the axle out of the MT-10
  • Nylon outer body on the WAPYA411: high elasticity, so it absorbs rather than shatters on a MT-10
  • The WAPYA411 adds 200 g to a MT-10 and changes nothing about how it steers
  • Available in 6 finishes for the MT-10: Black, Blue, Gold, Grey, Red, Silver

Construction and Material Quality

What touches the ground on the MT-10 is nylon, and that is deliberate. An Ergal core gives the WAPYA411 its structure while the nylon gives it its give. Replacing the insert costs a fraction of the kit, which is how it is meant to work.

How Axle Protection Works

An axle protector works by standing further out than the part it defends. LighTech's answer on the WAPYA411 is a two-material build: nylon that flexes, Ergal that holds. After contact the nylon shows it and the Ergal underneath usually does not.

Compatibility and Installation

LighTech lists the WAPYA411 for the Yamaha MT-10. It uses the mounting points the MT-10 already carries, so nothing is drilled or fabricated.

Installation

Installation on the MT-10 uses the hardware supplied in the WAPYA411 box. Leave the final torque until the position is confirmed on the MT-10. The WAPYA411 comes in 6 finishes — Black, Blue, Gold, Grey, Red, Silver — and the colour makes no difference to the fit on the MT-10.

Scope of Delivery

One WAPYA411 box covers both ends of the MT-10 — there is no separate front or rear part number. Nothing in the WAPYA411 box is specific to a colour, so a later change of finish is just the visible part.

Type Approval

No approval documentation is included with the WAPYA411. German vehicle inspection can take an interest in anything that protrudes from a Yamaha MT-10. We would rather you asked first than discovered it at the inspection.
