DescriptionThe whole story▼
Engineered for the demands of the circuit, the K-Tech 25IDS Open Cartridge Kit transforms the front-end behaviour of the Yamaha YZF-R1 M into something a factory team would recognise. The 25 mm Independent Damping System replaces the stock cartridge with a fully adjustable, track-focused unit that puts precise, repeatable suspension tuning in your hands — lap after lap.
Key Features
- 25 mm Independent Damping System (25IDS) with fully independent compression and rebound circuits for granular, conflict-free tuning
- 30 clicks of adjustment on both compression and rebound — dial in exactly what each circuit and riding style demands
- Increased stroke over the OEM cartridge for improved wheel travel and better handling under sustained track use
- Aerospace-grade aluminium construction with hard-anodised components for lasting performance and corrosion resistance
- Preload, damping and suspension characteristics can all be set independently to match your setup precisely
- K-Tech factory-recommended baseline settings included: 16 compression clicks, 18 rebound clicks, 8 mm preload
Track Performance
The 25IDS architecture is the reason K-Tech cartridge kits are found on the grids of BSB, World Superbike support classes and club racing alike. By decoupling compression and rebound damping, the system eliminates the compromises inherent in standard linked-valve cartridges. You can run a firm, controlled compression stroke for hard braking stability while maintaining a fast, forgiving rebound for traction on corner exit — adjustments that would otherwise fight each other in a conventional setup. The hard-anodised finish on the aluminium body shrugs off the heat cycles and fluid contamination that come with intensive track use, ensuring your baseline settings remain consistent across a full race weekend.
Build Quality
Every component in the 25IDS kit is machined from aerospace-grade aluminium and treated with a hard-anodised finish — a process that dramatically improves surface hardness, wear resistance and protection against hydraulic fluid attack. The 25 mm internal diameter and 14 mm rod diameter have been specified by K-Tech's engineers to balance oil flow rates with the damping force requirements of the YZF-R1 M's chassis. At 723 mm overall length and 125 mm of stroke, the kit matches the OEM fork travel envelope while extending usable range. Note: compatible springs from the 36-260 series must be ordered separately to complete the installation.
Fitment & Compatibility
This cartridge kit is designed specifically for the following models:
- Yamaha YZF-R1 M — chassis codes RN32, RN49 and RN65 — model years 2015 to 2026
Installation by an authorised K-Tech Service Centre is strongly recommended to ensure correct assembly, bleeding and baseline setup.
