DescriptionThe whole story▼
CY20300 is the upper half of the R9's race tail: the part the rider actually sits on, moulded in carbon and cut for a race foam. It replaces the standard rear bodywork along with its lighting, its pillion provision and its number plate mount.
Key Features
- Carbon race seat unit for the R9, in place of the standard tail assembly
- Flat mounting face prepared for a Carbonin foam, which is ordered separately
- Prepreg inner skin, cured under pressure in an autoclave
- Works with the lower section CY20301 and the support CY20310
- Supplied in bare weave, no clearcoat
Where the Rider Sits Is a Setting
Seat height and the position of the rear stop are as much a part of a bike's setup as spring rates, and they are the two things most riders never adjust. On the R9 in particular, coming from a naked-bike platform, the standard riding position is deliberately less extreme than a pure supersport's. A race tail changes it: it is flatter, it ends sooner, and it gives the rider a defined edge to brace against under braking rather than a padded slope to slide down. Riders coming from an R6 tend to find it immediately familiar; riders coming from an MT-09 do not.
What Else Is Needed
The unit is supplied bare. A foam is required and comes in three levels — BASIC FM2010Y, STANDARD FM2050Y and PROFESSIONAL FM2060Y. The lower seat section CY20301, the support CY20310 and the bracket IN2005Y complete the assembly.
Fitment
For the Yamaha R9, 2024 to 2026.
Road Approval
None. There is no provision for a tail light, indicators or a number plate.
