DescriptionThe whole story▼
Unveiled at EICMA 2016, the Brembo GP4-RS Monoblock Brake Caliper Kit represents the direct transfer of MotoGP braking technology to a production racing package. Compared to the already-formidable M4 Monoblock, this 108mm radial kit cuts caliper weight by 10% through an advanced high-strength casting process while simultaneously stiffening the body — a combination that translates to sharper initial bite, more consistent feel under hard braking, and absolute resistance to fade deep into a braking zone.
Key Features
- 10% lighter than the M4 Monoblock thanks to a high-strength casting technique introduced at EICMA 2016 — stiffer body, less unsprung mass
- Winged piston surface technology delivers 30% more efficient heat dissipation, keeping brake fluid temperatures in check and eliminating fade on long race stints
- Four 30mm pistons in a monoblock aluminium body for uniform, progressive clamping force with no caliper flex under maximum load
- Compatible with DOT 4 and DOT 5.1 brake fluid for full flexibility in race preparation
- Supplied complete with high-performance sintered brake pads (07BB3793) — arrive at the paddock ready to bleed and go
- Fits a wide range of supersport and superbike platforms including CBR 600 RR, CBR 1000 RR, ZX-10R, GSX-R 1000/750/600, R1, R6 and more
MotoGP Engineering in a Race Kit
The GP4-RS is built around a single-piece monoblock caliper body machined to extremely tight tolerances. Where conventional calipers rely on bolted half-bodies, the monoblock construction eliminates the junction entirely, producing a torsionally rigid unit that transmits lever input directly to pad contact without deflection. The high-strength casting process Brembo developed for this caliper allows thinner walls at equivalent rigidity compared to the M4, which is precisely where the 10% weight saving is achieved.
The winged piston surface is the most visible departure from the M4 design. Each piston features circumferential fins that dramatically increase surface area inside the fluid bore, drawing heat away from the disc contact face 30% more effectively than a conventional flat-faced piston. On a race track where successive hard braking events can push caliper temperatures to extremes, this technology keeps the fluid sub-boiling and the pedal feel firm lap after lap.
Track Use and Fitment Notes
Part number 220C78310 is a race-use-only component. It is not road-legal and carries no type approval (ABE). It is designed for competitive track use, trackdays, and circuit racing exclusively. The 108mm radial mounting pattern and 22.5mm offset are engineered to work with the brake disc dimensions listed below.
