DescriptionThe whole story▼
Both gains at exactly 7,500 rpm — 6.3 PS and 5.8 Nm — and no remapping needed. That last point is unusual for a header: most demand an ECU rewrite because removing the catalytic converter confuses the standard map. Akrapovic states this one does not.
Key Features
- 6.3 PS and 5.8 Nm more, both measured at 7,500 rpm
- 3.5 kg against the standard 7.2 kg: 3.7 kg and 51.4 per cent less
- Built from perfectly welded stainless steel tubes
- No ECU remapping required
- Power and torque improved through the entire rev range
- Upgrades the Akrapovic Slip-On Line into a complete system
- No road approval — circuit use only
A Header That Does Not Need a Remap
Akrapovic's technical data records no remapping requirement for this part, which sets it apart from most headers in this catalogue. That is a meaningful saving: a dyno session and a custom map typically adds several hundred euros to a header fitting.
It does not make the part road legal — the catalytic converter is still gone and the type approval with it. But for a track bike it means the header is a bolt-on rather than the first step of a longer project.
Sound Is the Other Half
Akrapovic describes the result, used with the Slip-On Line, as a racing note. On a CB1000R that is more of the point than it would be on a faired bike: the Neo Sports Café design puts the engine and the single-sided swingarm on display, and the exhaust is part of what the motorcycle is showing.
The header runs under the engine where it is barely visible, so what changes for an observer is entirely the sound.
What You Need Alongside It
This header requires an Akrapovic Slip-On Line to complete the system. For the CB1000R that is S-H10SO20-HAPLT — the 2 kg titanium silencer with the carbon end cap. Together the two form a full exhaust from cylinder head to tailpipe.
Where the Header Actually Sits
Honda designed the CB1000R around its single-sided swingarm and its exposed engine, and the exhaust plumbing is tucked well out of sight beneath. Nothing about this part is visible once the bike is back on its wheels.
That is a deliberate point in its favour. A track-only header that changed the motorcycle's appearance would draw attention it does not need; this one only changes what the bike does.
