DescriptionThe whole story▼

A fast chicane is the part of a lap where a superbike feels heaviest. The Panigale V4 S has to be thrown from one side to the other with the suspension still loaded from the last direction change, and quick riders use a touch of rear brake in the middle of it to keep the machine from pitching about. Accossato presses the AGPA42 rear pad in the ZXC ceramic racing material for that sort of riding, article AGPA42ZXC, listed for this bike from 2018 to 2026 and described by the company as a ceramic compound for racing.

Key Features

  • Rear pads for the Ducati Panigale V4 S, 2018 to 2026
  • Article AGPA42ZXC: the AGPA42 pad with the ceramic racing material
  • Accossato presents the compound for competition use
  • For a rear brake used to control weight transfer at speed
  • The 2019 S Corse shares this entry
  • A single rear caliper, so one box does the job
  • Two pads inside
  • No German ABE available; competition part

Construction and Material Quality

Ceramic, for racing: Accossato's description runs to three words and the honest thing is to leave it that size. Behind the friction layer sits the familiar AGPA42 body, identical across the materials, so the rear caliper of a Panigale V4 S is indifferent to which one was ordered. Among the properties Accossato claims for its pads generally is that heat stays within limits and performance with it, and on the rear of a bike being ridden quickly that translates into a pedal whose travel does not lengthen as the session wears on.

Through a Fast Chicane

Direction changes at speed are where electronic suspension and a rider's right boot end up working on the same problem. The bike is still settling from the first apex when it has to be stood up and laid over the other way, and the weight moving around on the machine is what decides whether the exit is tidy. A short, light application of the rear brake in that moment steadies the chassis and keeps the front loaded enough to steer. It is a small input, made at the wrong end of the bike to be felt clearly, and it only helps if the pedal responds identically each time.

Use of that kind puts heat into a part of the Panigale V4 S that gets almost no cooling air. Look at the pads whenever the rear wheel comes out, and take the opportunity to check the disc for anything the chain has flung at it. If the pedal begins to sit lower than it did in the morning, find out why between sessions rather than during the next one, and after any work at the rear press it until the resistance is back before the bike is ridden.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato catalogues the AGPA42 at the rear of the Panigale V4 S from 2018 to 2026, with the S Corse of 2019 in the same list. One caliper, one box, a complete change. The front of the machine takes the AGPA106, listed to 2025, and the DKS036 is the disc offered for this model. The standard V4 and the R appear under their own entries.

Road Approval

We have no ABE for this article and no German inspection report, so it leaves us for competition and for riding on closed circuits.

Scope of Delivery

One box of two AGPA42 pads in the ZXC ceramic racing material, the full set for the rear caliper of a Panigale V4 S.
