DescriptionThe whole story▼

Two long days in the hills change what a rider asks of a brake. On the second morning of a trail weekend the arms are tired, the pace is a little lower and every input needs to land where the previous day taught the rider to expect it. The GasGas EC 250 of 2021 to 2023 takes the AGPP80 at the rear, and article AGPP80ST presses that plate in the Sintered material, which Accossato describes as holding one level of grip across cold and hot discs alike and as keeping its manners when the surface is wet.

Key Features

  • Rear brake pads for the GasGas EC 250 of 2021, 2022 and 2023
  • Article AGPP80ST: the AGPP80 plate in the Sintered material
  • One level of grip whether the disc is cold or thoroughly warm
  • Described by Accossato as unbothered by water on the face
  • Chosen for long rides, loaded bikes and changeable weather
  • Current generation only; the 2020 machine and earlier differ
  • A pair in the box, which is one rear caliper's worth
  • No ABE on file, so the article is a competition part

Construction and Material Quality

Consistency is a plainer promise than power and a more useful one over a distance. The Sintered mixture is offered as the version whose behaviour the rider can memorise: the same pressure produces the same slowing on a cold first descent and again four hours later when the disc has been working all morning, and rain does not rewrite the rule. That matters on a 2021 EC 250 carrying a tool roll and a full tank down a loose track, where a rear wheel that suddenly bites harder than expected will step out of line. The AGPP80 carrier is the one used by every version of the article, so nothing about the fit changes with the material.

Day Two of a Long Ride

A weekend in the mountains puts hours on a brake that a race never would. There are no pit stops, no fresh set waiting in a van and often no phone signal, so the pads that go on at the start have to see the whole route through. Riders who plan such trips tend to fit new friction material before they leave rather than halfway through, and they carry a spare set in the pack on the assumption that somebody in the group will need it.

Fluid deserves a thought at the same time. Brake fluid draws in moisture over the years and a rear system that spends its life splashed with cold water ages quietly; a system that has never been bled will show it as a pedal that sinks slowly on a long descent. Before a trip, check the level, look at the colour, and make sure the reservoir cap is not weeping. On the trail itself, give the pedal a couple of firm presses after any deep water crossing so that the faces are dry before they are needed.

Fitment and Compatibility

The AGPP80 is the rear article for the EC 250 built in 2021, 2022 and 2023. Owners of the earlier enduro, the model made from 2012 to 2020, need the AGPP106 instead; the change of generation brought a change of rear pad and the catalogue keeps the two apart. Up front the picture is broader, with the AGPA29 listed from 1997 and the AGPA51 covering 2000 to 2020, so the front of this bike and the rear do not share a span. A disc for the model, the DK018, completes the Accossato entry.

Road Approval

There is no ABE for the AGPP80ST in our files and no German certificate, so the article is listed for competition use away from public traffic.

Scope of Delivery

Two AGPP80 pads in the Sintered material, packed as the set for the rear caliper of this GasGas.
