DescriptionThe whole story▼
Add a passenger and a tail pack to a Shiver 900 and the front brake has a different job. The same bend arrives with more weight behind it, the same descent asks for the lever more often, and everything the brake does is felt by two people at once. Accossato's ST compound is built around consistency, a grip level the company describes as high and constant whether the pad is cold or hot, with good behaviour on a wet disc. Here it comes on the AGPA101 front carrier for the Aprilia Shiver 900 of 2018 to 2020.
Key Features
- Front pads for the Aprilia Shiver 900, model years 2018 to 2020
- Sintered (ST) compound as a stand-alone article
- Accossato's claim: grip stays where it is, cold or hot, and holds on a wet disc
- Two pads to a box, one box per caliper
- Two front calipers on the Shiver 900, so two boxes complete the axle
- Rear pads for the same bike: AGPP91
- Disc listed by Accossato for this model: DKS032
- No German ABE or test mark on record; supplied for racing and competition
Construction and Material Quality
The value of the ST mix, in Accossato's telling, lies in how little it changes. Grip stays at a high level at the cold end of the range and at the hot end of it, and a wet disc does not take it away. Two-up riding is precisely the situation that exposes friction material which only performs in one of those states, because a loaded bike puts heat into the brake on a descent and then meets a rain shower at the bottom of the valley. The company also says its pads are laid out to limit how hot they get, and gives that as the reason they resist fading.
Two Up on a Mountain Road
Weight changes the timing of everything. A Shiver 900 with a passenger and luggage takes longer to slow, dives further when the lever is pulled and settles more slowly afterwards, so the braking starts earlier and finishes before the bike is leaned over. Passengers notice harshness more than speed; smooth is the word that keeps them comfortable, and smooth is also what keeps the bike stable.
On a long descent the engine can take a share of the work. Choosing a lower gear at the top of the hill and letting the drag hold the speed means the brakes are used in firm, short applications between bends instead of rubbing all the way down. Where the road allows it, pull over for a few minutes halfway. That is as good for the pads as it is for the two of you, and it is the moment to notice whether the lever now comes back further than it did at the top.
Fitment and Compatibility
The list is short: Accossato records the Shiver 900 from 2018 to 2020 for this carrier, with no separate version to choose between. Two calipers hold the front wheel of the bike and each one needs a box of its own. For the rear there is the AGPP91, and if the discs have reached their wear limit the catalogue also holds the DKS032 for the Shiver 900.
Road Approval
No ABE is on file here and no test mark either, so we list this pad for competition and track use.
Scope of Delivery
One box with two Sintered (ST) pads, enough for a single caliper.
