DescriptionThe whole story▼

The Tiger Explorer is the bike that started this whole family in 2012, before Triumph split it into the lettered variants that followed a few years later, and plenty of the original machines are still working as daily or touring bikes well over a decade on, now firmly in the secondhand market. Accossato lists the AGS118 for the Tiger Explorer across 2012 to 2017, a silver clutch lever in the original form.

Key Features

  • Clutch lever in the original form for the Triumph Tiger Explorer
  • Accossato's entry covers 2012 to 2017, ABS included
  • Silver
  • Left-hand lever, hydraulic clutch
  • An original spare parts type rather than a tuning component
  • Accossato states that its manufacturing process improves resistance after damage
  • A single lever per pack
  • No test documents held; listed for racing and competition

Construction and Material Quality

A repair, not an upgrade: that is the basis on which Accossato prices the AGS118, one of its original spare parts types, for the original Tiger Explorer just as for every bike in this family. The blade's shape is taken from the clutch lever this specific generation carried, so a machine well into its second decade keeps the control its owner has long since learned by feel. Improved resistance after a fall is the one stated claim, offered without a material, a weight or a dimension, and none is guessed at here. Silver is the fitment colour.

The Bike That Started the Family

Before Triumph offered buyers a choice of XC, XR and XRT trims, there was simply the Tiger Explorer, and a good number of the earliest examples are now changing hands for sensible money as a first big adventure bike or a dependable high-mileage tourer. A machine of this age bought secondhand often arrives with small, unrecorded repairs already done by a previous owner, and the clutch lever is exactly the kind of part that gets swapped without anyone writing it down. Checking that the lever currently fitted still returns cleanly through its full travel and shows no sign of a bend that was straightened out rather than replaced is a sensible first job on any Tiger Explorer bought without a full history, before relying on it for a long trip.

Fitment and Compatibility

As the bike this whole family started from, the original Tiger Explorer carries no brake lever entry of its own in our records, only the AGS118 on the clutch side. That same clutch lever now covers every lettered variant that followed it, as well as the Yamaha V-Max and the XT1200ZE Super Ténéré outside the Triumph range. Accossato's CNC lever here is the EDF014, alongside the ESC777.

Road Approval

No approval papers were supplied for the AGS118, so neither a German ABE nor a test mark can be stated, and the lever is offered for racing and competition use.
