DescriptionThe whole story▼
Town riding damages motorcycles in a very particular way. Nothing dramatic happens; there is a kerb, a patch of gravel at the edge of it, a foot that goes down on nothing, and a 125 DUKE lying on its side against the stone with the engine still running. The bike is barely marked, and the lever is bent. Anyone who has learned to ride in a city knows the sequence. Accossato lists the AGD315 for the 125 DUKE of 2011 to 2015, a black front brake lever in the shape of the original.
Key Features
- Replacement brake lever in the original shape for the KTM 125 DUKE
- Accossato's entry covers 2011 to 2015, including the versions with ABS in its list
- Black
- Front brake, right of the handlebar
- An original spare parts type, developed by Accossato to keep the repair affordable
- Accossato says the way these levers are made improves resistance after damage
- One lever
- No German ABE or test mark; listed for racing and competition
Construction and Material Quality
The point of a replacement in the original form is that nobody can tell it happened. The AGD315 takes the outline of the lever the 125 DUKE was built with, and it is listed in black, which is how this model wears its controls; a silver blade on one side of these handlebars would announce the repair from across a car park. Accossato developed the range so that a control broken in a slow fall costs what a slow fall should cost, and states that its production method leaves these levers more resistant after damage or a collision. Nothing else is published about the part, and nothing else is claimed here.
Against the Kerb
The lever is the part of a light naked bike that meets the ground first, and on a 125 DUKE it does so at an unhelpful angle: the bar is wide, the bike is low, and a kerbstone concentrates the whole impact into a few centimetres of blade. Very often nothing else needs attention at all, which makes this one of the cheapest repairs in motorcycling if it is done properly. Start by checking the perch rather than the lever. If the clamp has held firm, the force went into the blade and the bar; if it has rotated, it has done its job and only needs setting back. Sit on the bike to set the angle, so that the wrist stays in line with the forearm when the fingers are on the lever, and tighten the clamp firmly rather than savagely. Then fit the new blade with a cleaned and lightly greased pivot. Before riding, do the two checks that matter in traffic: pull the brake hard while pushing the bike forward to confirm it bites well short of the grip, and look behind you to confirm the brake light comes on early in the travel rather than at the end of it. A twisted lever is not worth straightening; it costs little to replace and the shape is the part that works.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the AGD315 for the 125 DUKE from 2011 to 2015 and names no second original-type brake lever for this model, so the right-hand side is settled. The same code is catalogued with us for the KTM 200 DUKE, the 390 DUKE and the RC 125, which share this generation of cockpit. On the clutch side Accossato lists no original-type lever for the 125 DUKE. Riders who would rather have a tuning part will find Accossato's CNC levers for this bike under EDF039 and ESK390.
Road Approval
For the AGD315 no approval documentation was provided to us, so neither a German ABE nor a test mark can be stated and we list the lever for racing and competition use.
