DescriptionThe whole story▼

The CRF450RX is the cross-country version of Honda's motocrosser, built for long races through woods and over rough ground rather than for twenty minutes on a prepared track. That changes what a broken lever means. On a motocross circuit the pits are a lap away; in a cross-country race a rider with a snapped brake lever may be a long way from anyone holding a spare. Accossato lists the AGD279 for the CRF450RX from 2017 to 2020, a silver front brake lever in the shape of the original.

Key Features

  • Front brake lever in the original shape for the Honda CRF450RX
  • Accossato lists the CRF 450 RX Enduro from 2017 to 2020
  • Silver
  • Right-hand lever for the front brake
  • An original spare parts type, developed by Accossato for good value
  • Accossato says the manufacturing method leaves it more resistant after a crash
  • One lever per pack
  • No German ABE or test mark; listed for racing and competition

Construction and Material Quality

A cross-country bike needs its controls to stay predictable, which is a good argument for a spare that changes nothing. Accossato classes the AGD279 as an original spare parts type, so the blade follows the outline Honda gave the CRF450RX and the right-hand side of the bar feels exactly as it did before. The range was drawn up around value for money, and the company states that its manufacturing method leaves these levers more resistant after damage or a crash. The colour is silver. Accossato adds no technical data, and we do not invent any.

A Long Lap and No Pit Crew

Cross-country racing puts distance between a rider and their tools, and that shapes how you prepare a CRF450RX. The obvious answer is to carry what you might need, and a brake lever weighs almost nothing in a bum bag beside a plug spanner and a length of wire. The less obvious answer is to practise the swap in the garage until it takes a couple of minutes, so that the routine sits in your hands rather than in a manual you do not have with you. You want to know which tool the pivot takes, how the lever meets the master cylinder piston and how much free play the handbook expects. Fitting a lever in a field is the same job as fitting it at home, minus the light and the workbench: undo the pivot, wipe what you can, put the new lever on and tighten it so that the lever still swings freely. Squeeze it several times until the pressure point comes back firm before you set off, and treat the front brake gently for the first few corners.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato gives the AGD279 for the CRF450RX Enduro from 2017 to 2020, and it is the only original-type brake lever listed for this model. On the clutch side there are two, the AGS271 for the same years and the AGS272 for 2017 and 2018, so if the bike went down hard enough to take out both sides, check the year before ordering the left-hand lever. The AGD279 also appears in our catalogue under the CRF250R, the CRF250RX and the CRF450R. Accossato's CNC brake lever for the CRF450RX is the B8207.

Road Approval

No approval documentation of any kind reached us with this lever, so there is no German ABE and no test mark, and we sell the AGD279 for racing and competition.
