DescriptionThe whole story▼

Trail rides on a CRF230F tend to go further than planned. Honda's air-cooled trail bike is comfortable and forgiving, and a relaxed afternoon on forest tracks can easily take you a long way from the van. That is where a rocky climb or a root hidden under leaves can put the bike down on its right side and snap the front brake lever. What follows is a slow, careful ride back with half a lever. For the CRF230F of 2003 to 2017, Accossato lists the AGD93, a silver replacement brake lever of the original type.

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato makes the AGD93 as a spare of the original type, following the shape of the lever the CRF230F came with, so the controls feel familiar the moment it is fitted. It was designed for good value for money, and Accossato says the process by which it is made gives it more resistance after damage or a fall. The colour is silver. There are no published figures on material or size, and we do not supply any.

Riding Back With Half a Lever

A snapped front brake lever does not have to end the ride, but it changes how you ride. First check what is left. If a usable stub remains and the brake still responds when you press it, use it with great care; if the lever has broken off at the pivot, the front brake is gone. Either way, the rear brake and the engine now do most of the slowing down. Ride slowly, stay in a low gear on descents so the engine holds the bike back, and leave far more room to stop than usual. Avoid steep downhill sections where you can, and walk the bike down if there is no other way. Mind the sharp edge of the broken lever too, because it can cut a glove or a hand in another fall. Back at the van the fix is straightforward: remove the remains, clean the pivot and give it a little fresh grease, fit the AGD93 and check that the brake bites cleanly before the next ride. A spare lever in the van turns the same mishap next time into a ten-minute stop.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists the AGD93 for the CRF230F from 2003 to 2017 and names no other replacement brake lever for this bike. At Inter-Pace the same lever is also listed for the CRF150F, the CRF250L and the CRF450R. Before you order, compare the product photo with your lever. The original-type clutch lever for the CRF230F is the AGS196, listed for 2004 to 2019, and Accossato's CNC levers B8206 and C7103 are available as a tuning option.

Road Approval

We do not have test or approval documents for the AGD93, so no German ABE and no test mark can be shown. It is listed for racing and competition use.
