DescriptionThe whole story▼
For riders who want a brighter, more reflective look than bare aluminium, Accossato offers this radial brake master cylinder with a nickel-plated body, built around the same 15 mm piston and PRS 17-18-19 mm adjustable pivot distance as the natural-finish version. The 15 mm piston is Accossato's suggestion for naked and motard bikes, and the lever folds flat and is offered with (RST) or without (NRST) a lightening eyelet, in short or long reach. The plating changes only the surface; the braking characteristics stay tied to the piston size and whichever pivot setting the rider selects.
Key Features
- 15 mm piston diameter, suggested for naked and motard bikes
- PRS pivot distance adjustable between 17, 18 and 19 mm
- Nickel-plated aluminium body for a brighter finish
- Folding lever in short or long reach, with (RST) or without (NRST) a lightening eyelet
- Offset riser that limits master cylinder flex under braking
- Passive lever stroke cut by more than 50 percent versus a standard radial unit
- Stainless steel mounting screws and a zinc-plated bleed valve
- Seals manufactured from Formula 1 compound material
Construction and Material Quality
The body of this master cylinder is machined from aluminium and then nickel-plated, a finishing step applied over and above the natural anodising used on its sibling, giving a brighter, mirror-like surface. Nothing changes in the hardware behind that surface: stainless steel mounting screws, a zinc-plated bleed valve and seals manufactured from Formula 1 compound are fitted regardless of finish, specified to cope with heat cycling and repeated brake fluid contact. The mounting clamp carries an off-set riser to limit flex in the body under hard braking, and the internal bore is shaped to cut the passive stroke, the travel before the pads engage, by more than half against a standard radial master cylinder.
What PRS Adjustment Means for This Nickel-Plated Unit
This nickel-plated master cylinder keeps the PRS feature from the rest of the range: the pivot distance between the lever's rotation point and its pumping axis can be set to 17, 18 or 19 mm, and Accossato rates the mechanism as suitable for all types of riding because the offset is adjustable rather than fixed. Moving toward 19 mm trims the lever stroke and sharpens the bite, asking for a little more hand effort, while 17 mm lengthens the stroke for a softer pull; the 15 mm piston behind this adjustment is the size Accossato suggests for naked and motard machines specifically. The nickel plating has no bearing on any of that mechanical behaviour, so the choice between this version and the natural anodised one comes down to how the rider wants the master cylinder to look on the bars.
Fitment and Compatibility
Our fitment data lists 43 motorcycles for this master cylinder, including the Honda CB500X (2013-2021), the Kawasaki NINJA 650 (2017-2024), the Triumph STREET TWIN (2019-2022), the Yamaha R3 (2015-2023) and the Husqvarna VITPILEN 401 (2018-2024), across Honda, Kawasaki, Triumph, Yamaha, Husqvarna, Ducati and Moto Guzzi ranges. The complete list with exact model years is set out in the Fitment tab on this page; check it against your own registration document before ordering. The same PRS 15x17-18-19 body is also sold as a separate product in a natural anodised finish.
Road Approval
No ABE documented for this master cylinder; it is intended for track and competition use.
