DescriptionThe whole story▼
The CY028 shares its 16 mm piston and fixed 18 mm pivot with the CY027, sizing it for single-disc front brakes, but fits a rigid lever in place of the folding design, and this listing is the natural anodised body. Accossato rates the 18 mm pivot for track use that also suits road riding. Because the lever is fixed, it cannot be folded flat against the body, staying rigid at all times instead.
Key Features
- 16 mm piston diameter for single-disc front brake systems
- Fixed 18 mm lever pivot, suited to track and road use
- Rigid, fixed lever in black, not a folding design
- Natural anodised aluminium body, left in its machined finish
- CNC-machined, fully made in Italy
- Offset riser that limits body flex under hard braking
- Stainless steel mounting screws and a zinc-plated bleed valve
- Seals in Formula 1 compound material
Construction and Material Quality
This body is CNC-machined from aluminium and left natural anodised, with a rigid rather than folding lever fitted on top of it. Stainless steel holds the lever to the clamp, the bleed valve is zinc-plated steel and the seals are Formula 1 compound, the same specification used throughout the CY02x family. An offset riser resists the body flexing as the lever is pulled, and the bore is shaped to cut the lever's passive travel by more than half against an ordinary radial unit.
A Rigid Lever on a Single-Disc Cylinder
Pairing a fixed lever with the single-disc 16 mm piston gives a direct, one-joint connection between the rider's fingers and the master cylinder, without the folding hinge found on the CY027. On this natural-finish CY028, both the long and short lever lengths are fitted with a relieving eyelet (RST), so there is no difference in hardware between the two beyond reach. Because this cylinder uses the same 16 mm piston as the CY027, a workshop fitting either unit can share spares such as the stainless screws and seals.
Fitment and Compatibility
54 motorcycles are confirmed for the CY028, the same adventure and roadster list as the CY027, including the BMW F750GS, Kawasaki Z650, Suzuki DL1000 V-Strom, Honda CB1100RS and BMW R NineT; the Fitment tab carries the full list with model years. The same fixed-lever cylinder is also sold separately with a nickel-plated body. Because the lever here is rigid rather than folding, riders coming from a folding-lever Accossato unit should expect a firmer, more direct feel at the bar.
Road Approval
This master cylinder is not supplied with German road-approval documentation; it is intended for track and competition use.
Scope of Delivery
The package includes the Accossato 16x18 radial brake master cylinder with the rigid fixed lever in black, available long or short, both fitted with a relieving eyelet (RST), in the natural anodised body finish. Stainless steel mounting screws, the zinc-plated bleed valve and the Formula 1 compound seals are assembled on the unit. The brake light switch (ID001 or ID002) and the fluid reservoir are not included.
