DescriptionThe whole story▼

A weekend on forest tracks and farm lanes leaves a Caponord 1200 Rally looking the part, with mud between the spokes and dust in every gap of the bodywork. The clean-up afterwards is part of the ritual, and the handlebar deserves more thought than it usually gets, because the front brake reservoir is mounted there. For the Caponord 1200 Rally of 2015 and 2016, Accossato makes the TS003, a cap for that reservoir, machined from aluminium on CNC equipment and anodised in seven colours.

Key Features

  • Front brake fluid reservoir cap for the Aprilia Caponord 1200 Rally, 2015 and 2016
  • Takes the place of the cap on the original front reservoir
  • Aluminium, CNC-machined, anodised finish
  • Seven colours: black, silver, gold, red, blue, green, orange
  • Every colour of this cap is also offered for the FP001 oil filler cap
  • Fitment to be checked against Accossato's application list
  • No German ABE on file; for track use

Construction and Material Quality

CNC machining turns a piece of aluminium into the TS003, and anodising then adds the colour: black, silver, gold, red, blue, green or orange. It sits on the original front reservoir, and the rest of the brake stays untouched, from the master cylinder to the lines. The one thing to look at during the swap is the seal or diaphragm under the old cap. If it has hardened or split, renew it before the reservoir is closed again.

Washing Off the Mud

Mud and brake fluid are a poor combination, so the order of work matters. Wash the Caponord 1200 Rally first and keep the lance of a pressure washer well away from the handlebar controls and the reservoir; water forced past a seal is the last thing a hydraulic brake needs. Let everything dry properly before you touch the reservoir with a screwdriver. If the TS003 is going on as part of the clean-up, choose a dry day in the garage. Swing the bars so that the reservoir lies flat, drape a cloth over the tank and the fairing, and wipe the area around the old cap before lifting it, so that no grit from the trail can fall in. Brake fluid pulls water out of damp air, which is a good reason to keep the reservoir open for as short a time as possible. Confirm that the level is between the marks, fit the new cap, tighten its fixings with feeling, and rinse any splash off the paint with water at once. Before the next ride, squeeze the lever several times with the bike at rest and make sure the pressure builds as it always has.

Fitment and Compatibility

The ETV 1200 Caponord Rally of 2015 and 2016 is on Accossato's list for this cap, which goes onto its front reservoir. In our range the same cap also appears for the standard Caponord 1200, the RSV4 RR and Ducati's Hypermotard 939. The Rally has one more Accossato cap, the FP001 for the oil filler, which can be ordered in the same colour. As with every reservoir cap, compare your Caponord 1200 Rally with Accossato's application list before you order.

Road Approval

For the TS003 we have neither an ABE nor any other certificate or test mark, so it is listed in our shop for competition and circuit riding.
