DescriptionThe whole story▼
The R1M adds premium bodywork, semi-active electronics and a price tag to match, which makes it the version of Yamaha's superbike that owners are most careful about where they take it, yet a track or a fast road is still the whole point of buying one. Even careful riders push the limit occasionally, and a front end that steps wide on cold tyres in the opening laps of a session is one of the more common ways a bike this capable still ends up on the ground. Accossato lists the PF046 front axle sliders for the R1M of 2015 to 2018.
Key Features
- Front axle sliders for the Yamaha R1M, 2015 to 2018
- Accossato PF046, one protector for each side
- Aluminium and plastic, black
- Spacers, screws and remaining mounting parts in the kit, as stated by Accossato
- PP019 rear sliders and TP025 crash pads also listed for this bike
- Designed to be the first point of contact if the front tucks
- Same pair listed for the MT-10, MT-10 SP, R1 and R6
- No German ABE on file; offered for racing and competition
Construction and Material Quality
Each PF046 slider combines aluminium with plastic and is finished in black, built for the left and right side of the front wheel. Accossato's kit, by its own description, carries the spacers, screws and the remaining parts needed for mounting. In the opening laps of a session, when tyres have not yet reached working temperature, the sliders are there to take the first contact if the front steps wide and tucks away from the rider, which can reduce what the fork and axle area suffer. A slider that has absorbed that kind of impact should be swapped for a new one.
Cold Tyres in the Opening Laps
An R1M's electronics help manage the chassis, but no amount of software replaces the grip a cold tyre simply does not have, and the first couple of laps out of the pits remain the moment when even careful, experienced riders occasionally find the front letting go earlier than expected. Pushing hard before the tyres have scrubbed in, particularly in a session's early minutes when everyone is keen to make the most of limited track time, invites exactly this kind of low-grip surprise. The resulting fall is usually a slide rather than a hard impact, and the sliders are there to take that first contact with the tarmac. After any such off, a careful check of the fork, the levers and the sliders is needed before the bike returns to the track.
Fitment and Compatibility
For the R1M, Accossato names 2015 to 2018 as the years covered by the PF046, and our listing matches. This bike also takes the PP019 at the rear and the TP025 on the fairing. The same front slider turns up elsewhere in our shop too, against the MT-10, the MT-10 SP, the R1 and the R6, since the design is shared across several related Yamahas. Where your R1M falls outside those years, get in touch before ordering.
Road Approval
We hold no ABE or other test document for the PF046, so it is supplied for racing and competition use.
