DescriptionThe whole story▼
Few naked bikes announce themselves quite like the Speed Triple 1050, with its round twin headlights and a three-cylinder growl that commuters either love or quickly learn to recognise in a mirror. In dense city traffic, the Speed Triple spends as much time filtering and stopping as it does accelerating, and a stall at the front of a queue, with the bike balanced between first gear and a dropped foot, is one of the more common ways an otherwise careful rider ends up picking the bike back up. For the Speed Triple 1050 of 2011 to 2015, Accossato lists the PF028, a pair of black front axle sliders.
Key Features
- Front axle sliders for the Triumph Speed Triple 1050, 2011 to 2015
- Accossato PF028, one protector for each side
- Aluminium and plastic, black finish
- Spacers, screws and remaining mounting parts in the kit, as stated by Accossato
- TP043 crash pads also listed for this bike
- Designed to be the first point of contact if the bike tips over
- No German ABE on file; offered for racing and competition
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato builds the PF028 from aluminium and plastic and finishes both protectors in black, one for each side of the front wheel. The maker states that spacers, screws and every other part needed for mounting travel in the same kit. In heavy traffic, where a tip-over usually happens at a standstill or close to it, the sliders are there to take that first contact ahead of the fork and the front axle area, which can reduce the resulting damage. They wear in the process and are meant to be replaced once a fall has marked them.
Stalled at the Front of the Queue
Stopping a Speed Triple 1050 at the front of a queue, often on a junction with a slight camber or a painted box, leaves little room for error if the engine stalls while pulling away. A stalled bike loses its balance aid the moment the clutch disengages, and a rider caught by surprise, perhaps checking a mirror or distracted by the car behind, can find the bike leaning further than expected before a foot reaches the ground. Traffic queues also bring other riders and cyclists filtering past at close quarters, any one of whom can nudge a stationary bike. Practising a smooth, confident pull-away habit reduces how often this happens, but it will not eliminate the risk entirely. When the Speed Triple 1050 does go over at a standstill, the sliders take the first knock; check them along with the mirror and lever once the bike is back on its wheels.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's application list gives the PF028 for the Speed Triple 1050 from 2011 to 2015, and our listing follows those years. For the fairing of this bike, the TP043 crash pads are also available. No other Accossato protection part is listed for this model. Please check your Speed Triple 1050 against the application list before ordering, or ask us to confirm it, and once fitted, turn the bars fully both ways to be sure nothing touches.
Road Approval
We have no ABE or test certificate on file for the PF028, so it is supplied for track and competition use.
