DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Yamaha XT660Z Ténéré was made for long journeys, and many owners use it for exactly that. Before a trip far from dealers and spare parts, the brakes deserve a careful look at home, where tools and time are at hand. Accossato lists the DK077 for the XT660Z Ténéré from 2008 to 2015. It is an Elite-line floating front disc with a 298 mm friction ring on a black carrier, and the rivets that hold the two together carry the Accossato logo.

Construction and Material Quality
The DK077 is part of Accossato's Elite line. Its friction ring, 298 mm across and 5 mm thick, floats on a black carrier with a 132 mm centre, and the rivets joining the two parts bear the company logo. Accossato states that the thickness is the same as on the original disc. The manufacturer, which began in Moncalieri near Turin in 1969, says the knowledge behind its discs was gained in Superbike, Moto2 and Moto3.
Before a Long Journey
A long trip multiplies everything a brake has to cope with. A loaded XT660Z Ténéré weighs more than on a day ride, mountain roads bring long descents, and gravel and dust grind at the pads. Workshops with the right parts may be days apart. That is why the brakes belong on the preparation list alongside tyres, chain and air filter.
Start with the discs. Measure both at several points and compare the readings with the minimum printed on them. Accossato's guideline is to replace discs roughly every thirty to forty thousand kilometres, or earlier if they are worn, scored or cracked, and a long journey can use up a good part of that distance, so a disc that is merely acceptable at home may not be by the end of the trip. If the discs are due, fit new ones before leaving, together with new pads, and ride a few hundred kilometres at home to bed them in and to spot any problem while help is still close. Change the brake fluid if its age is unknown. Pack a spare set of front pads and the tools to fit them, because pads wear quickly on dusty tracks, and practise the change in your own garage rather than for the first time at the roadside. On the road, check pad thickness every few days, and clean the calipers after long stretches of dust or mud.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the DK077 for the XT660Z Ténéré from 2008 to 2015, including versions with ABS. The Ténéré brakes with two front discs and the price is for one, so plan on two for a complete change. Accossato also lists the DKS073, a floating disc outside the Elite line, for the same years. Fit the discs with the wheel out, and take the opportunity to check the front wheel bearings, which work hard on rough tracks.
Road Approval
There is no German ABE and no type approval documented for the DK077, so we sell it for track use.
Scope of Delivery
One DK077 floating disc from the Elite line; the twin front brake of the XT660Z Ténéré needs two.
