DescriptionThe whole story▼

The Street Scrambler turned Triumph's 900 cc Street Twin into a scrambler with a high-level exhaust and a relaxed riding position. It has one disc at the front, which makes changing it a manageable job for a home mechanic. For the Street Scrambler of 2017 to 2021, Accossato's catalogue names the DK203: a floating disc with a black carrier and a friction ring 310 mm across, presented as interchangeable with the original disc.

Key Features

  • Floating front disc for the Triumph Street Scrambler, 2017 to 2021
  • 310 mm across, 82 mm inner diameter, 4 mm thick
  • Interchangeable with the original equipment disc
  • Black carrier
  • Minimum thickness printed on the disc
  • Single front disc on this bike, so one order covers the front
  • No German ABE documented; for track use

Construction and Material Quality

Ring outside, carrier inside, rivets in between: the DK203 is built as a floating disc, and its carrier is black. The rivets allow the ring a small amount of movement, so it can expand and contract with heat independently of the carrier. The same play explains why a floating disc may click faintly when the bike is pushed slowly. Accossato bases its designs on racing experience in Superbike, Moto2 and Moto3 and puts weight on its choice of materials. On the finished disc the minimum thickness is printed, so wear can be checked later.

One Disc, One Afternoon

With a single front disc, replacing it on the Street Scrambler is something most owners with basic tools can manage in an afternoon. You need a safe way to lift the front wheel, such as a front paddock stand with the correct pin or a jack under the engine with the bike secured, plus the right sockets, a torque wrench and brake cleaner. Take the caliper off first and hang it from the frame with a cable tie so that the hose is not stretched. Then remove the spindle and the wheel.

Undo the disc bolts, clean the hub face and the threads, and check whether Triumph's manual calls for thread-locking compound. Fit the DK203, tighten the bolts in stages and in a cross pattern to the specified torque, and clean the ring. Once the caliper is back, pump the lever several times before the bike moves, because the pistons will have been pushed back. Finally, bed in the pads with a series of gentle stops, building up to firmer ones, before relying on the brake.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists the DK203 for the Street Scrambler from 2017 to 2021 in place of the single original disc on the front wheel. The Street Cup of the same years shares the disc on Accossato's list. Levers listed for the Street Scrambler include the EDF014 and the EST333P. If in doubt, compare the disc on your Street Scrambler with the 310 mm of this one before ordering.

Road Approval

Without a German ABE or type approval on record, the DK203 is sold for racetrack use only.
