DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Ducati Multistrada V4 comes with ABS that helps in an emergency stop, but the rider still has to squeeze the lever firmly and quickly enough for the system to work at the limit, and few riders ever practise that. In such a stop, the front discs take almost all of the load. For the Multistrada V4 from 2021 to 2025, Accossato offers the floating DKS053 for the front wheel, its 320 mm ring mounted on a black carrier, as a like-for-like swap for the factory part.
Key Features
- Floating front disc for the Ducati Multistrada V4, 2021 to 2025
- 320 mm friction ring, 5.5 mm thick
- 72 mm centre, five 8.5 mm holes on a 90 mm circle
- Black carrier
- Replaces the original disc, according to Accossato
- Minimum thickness printed on the disc
- One disc per order; two needed for the front wheel
- No German ABE documented; for track and competition
Construction and Material Quality
In the DKS053 the friction ring and the part that holds it are separate. The ring, 5.5 mm thick and 320 mm in diameter, rides on rivets fixed to a black carrier, which is located by its 72 mm centre and held by five fixings through 8.5 mm holes on a 90 mm circle. The small freedom at the rivets lets the ring expand with heat. Accossato traces its experience with discs to Superbike, Moto2 and Moto3 competition and credits careful work on tolerances for their stopping power.
Practising the Hard Stop
An emergency stop is a skill, and like any skill it fades without practice. An empty car park or a closed training area is the place to rebuild it on a Multistrada V4. Start at moderate speed, keep the bike upright and your eyes up, and squeeze the front lever progressively but quickly, letting the weight transfer onto the front tyre before you apply full force. Use the rear brake at the same time. When the ABS starts to work you will feel it in the lever; keep squeezing rather than letting go.
Practice like this puts real load through the front discs, and it is a good moment to think about their condition. Accossato's warning applies here: a disc that is badly worn may break under that kind of extreme load. Its recommended change comes at thirty to forty thousand kilometres, sooner for a disc that is worn, scored or cracked. A few practice stops each spring, on discs in good order, prepare you for the one stop on the road that really counts.
Fitment and Compatibility
The DKS053 appears on Accossato's list for the Multistrada V4 from 2021 to 2025. Before ordering, compare the diameter of your current disc with the 320 mm of the DKS053, because not every version of the Multistrada V4 family uses the same disc size. The bike runs two front discs; renew them together and fit fresh pads, and take the torque for the disc bolts from Ducati's manual.
Road Approval
Road use is not covered, since no type approval and no German ABE exist on record for the DKS053; it belongs on the track and in competition.
