DescriptionThe whole story▼
Rear tyres do not last long on a KTM 300 XC. Cross-country racing wears the knobs down quickly, and many riders fit a new one every few races. Each change is a good moment to look closely at the rear disc, because the wheel is out and the disc is at eye level on the bench. Accossato lists the DK018 at the rear of the 300 XC from 2006 to 2026. It is a one-piece disc from the off-road range, steel in the supplier's description, with a 220 mm diameter, a 110 mm bore and a thickness of 4 mm.
Key Features
- Rear brake disc for the KTM 300 XC, model years 2006 to 2026
- Fixed disc, one piece, from the off-road range
- Described by the supplier as steel-made
- 220 mm outer, 110 mm inner diameter, 4 mm thick
- Accossato lists it as interchangeable with the stock disc
- Minimum thickness printed on the disc
- Single disc; no German ABE on record
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato places the DK018 in its range of off-road discs. The supplier describes it as steel, formed as one flat part that locates on the hub through its central opening, and Accossato says it goes on where the original disc was. The company claims two benefits from its road racing background, which spans Moto3, Moto2 and Superbike: a design and choice of material that deliver strong braking, and a moderate weight that helps the bike steer. Before fitting, read the minimum thickness printed on the disc and note it down for later checks.
Tyre Day
With the rear wheel of the 300 XC on the bench, spend a few minutes on the disc before the new tyre goes on. Measure its thickness at three or four points around the friction surface and compare the lowest reading with the figure printed on the disc. Look at both faces for grooves and heat colours, and check the fixing bolts for damaged heads. Turn the wheel bearings with a finger. If the disc is due, fit the new one now, on a clean hub face, and tighten the bolts in a crosswise order to KTM's specification. When the wheel goes back in, the caliper pistons may have moved while it was out, so pump the pedal until it is firm before riding. And keep tyre-fitting lubricant well away from the disc: any that ends up on the friction surface has to be cleaned off before the first stop.
Fitment and Compatibility
Every model year of the KTM 300 XC from 2006 to 2026 is on Accossato's list for the DK018, which replaces the original rear disc. At the front, the DK259 is listed for 2006 to 2023. Accossato's folding levers for the 300 XC are the B8283 on the brake side and the C7283 for the clutch.
Road Approval
The 300 XC is a competition model, and the DK018 has no German ABE and no documented type approval. It is sold for racing and for off-road riding on private land.
