DescriptionThe whole story▼

An older R6 bought as a cheap entry into club racing or trackdays often arrives with a history that is only partly known, and new owners spend the first few weekends learning the bike's quirks as much as improving their own riding. Borrowed paddock space at a budget trackday is rarely generous, and bikes parked tightly together, often resting on cheap stands of questionable quality, create a real chance that a neighbour's machine topples into yours during a change of tyres or a quick adjustment. Accossato lists its TP004 crash pads for the R6, covering 2006 to 2016.

Key Features

  • Crash pads for the Yamaha R6, 2006 to 2016
  • Accossato TP004, two pads per pack
  • CNC-machined aluminium body
  • Anodised insert in blue, green, black, red, silver or gold
  • Matching screw cover available as an option
  • PF013 front and PP001 rear axle sliders also listed for this bike
  • Ask us before ordering whether drilling is needed
  • No German ABE on file; for racing and competition use

Construction and Material Quality

The TP004 body is shaped from aluminium and carries an anodised insert, chosen from six available colours, with a matching screw cover offered to those who want one. The pack holds two pads. Sitting close to the fairing of the R6 in a crowded budget paddock, where bikes stand near enough to touch and stands vary wildly in quality, the pads are there to meet a neighbour's bike or the ground first in a tip-over, sparing the fairing nearby some of the resulting mark. A pad that has clearly taken a knock should be treated as finished and replaced.

A Crowded Budget Paddock

Entry-level club racing and cheap trackdays rarely come with generous paddock space, and riders on a budget often make do with basic stands that were never built for repeated heavy use. A stand that gives way under someone else's bike nearby can send that machine tumbling sideways into the next one along, and in a tightly packed row the R6 may have nowhere to go but down. Leaving what room you can between bikes, and checking that your own stand is properly seated before walking away, both help, though neither removes the risk entirely in a paddock this tight. If the R6 does go down this way, check the crash pads along with the fairing and the levers before the next session.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato's application list gives the TP004 for the R6 from 2006 to 2016, and our listing follows those years. The PF013 front and PP001 rear axle sliders are also listed for this bike. Accossato notes that drilling the fairing is required on some motorcycles for these pads, without naming which ones, so please ask us before ordering whether your R6 needs it. No other model shares this code in our shop.

Road Approval

We have no ABE or test certificate on file for the TP004, so it is supplied for racing and competition use.
