DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Thruxton 1200 leans furthest into café racer territory among Triumph's modern classics, with low bars and footrests set back enough to put real weight through a rider's wrists and ankles at a standstill. That seating position makes a quick dab-and-dismount at traffic lights or a garage lift awkward, since reaching the ground from a crouched riding stance takes a fraction longer than on an upright bike, and that fraction is sometimes all it takes for the Thruxton 1200 to lean past recovery. Accossato lists the TP093 crash pads for the Thruxton 1200 of 2016 to 2018.

Construction and Material Quality
Accossato machines the TP093 body from aluminium and anodises its insert in a choice of six colours, offering a matching screw cover for those who want one. Two pads form the pack. Fitted close to the frame of the Thruxton 1200, they are there to take the first contact if the bike tips over before a foot reaches the ground, which can reduce the damage to the frame rails nearby. They are designed to wear in doing so, and a pad that shows a hard scrape should be replaced.
Low Bars, a Crouched Stance and a Slow Dismount
Café racer riding positions put a rider's weight forward and down, which feels right once the Thruxton 1200 is moving but leaves less room for a quick recovery if the bike starts to lean at a standstill. Clipping a boot on a low footrest while swinging a leg over, or simply misjudging the reach to the ground from a crouched seating position, can turn an ordinary stop into a slow tip-over. The same low stance also makes a motorcycle lift tempting for home maintenance, since reaching awkward fasteners is easier with the bike raised, and a Thruxton 1200 that slips off an improperly secured lift falls further and harder than a bike that merely tips from standing. If either kind of knock happens, the crash pads take the first contact; check them, the footrests and the levers before riding or lifting the bike again.
Fitment and Compatibility
Our shop lists the TP093 for the Thruxton 1200 using Accossato's own 2016-to-2018 span. Since the pad is shared hardware across the range, it is also catalogued here for the Bonneville Bobber, the T100 and T120, the Street Cup, the Street Twin and the Thruxton 1200R. Drilling is called for on some of the motorcycles in Accossato's wider catalogue, though not stated by name, so check with us first if your Thruxton 1200 needs it.
Road Approval
No ABE or test certificate is on file for the TP093, so we offer it for track and competition use.
