DescriptionThe whole story▼

On a hot summer afternoon, tarmac softens, and a side stand carrying a motorcycle's weight on a small foot can slowly sink into it. Riders of the Aprilia Shiver 750 who stop at a café or an ice-cream parlour sometimes come back to find their bike lying on its side. It happens slowly and silently, which does not make the damage any less annoying. Accossato's TP052 crash pads, CNC-machined in aluminium with a coloured insert, are listed for the Shiver 750 from 2007 to 2016.

Key Features

  • Crash pads for the Aprilia Shiver 750, 2007 to 2016
  • Aluminium, CNC-machined (Accossato)
  • Anodised insert in six colours
  • Matching screw cover as an option
  • Supplied as a pair
  • Some bikes need drilling: ask us before ordering
  • Works alongside the PF031 and PP011 axle sliders
  • No German ABE documented; for track use

Construction and Material Quality

The TP052 is machined from aluminium on CNC machines and has an insert anodised in one of six colours: blue, green, black, red, silver or gold. You can order it with a screw cover in the same colour, or without. Two pads come in each pack. On a naked bike like the Shiver, the pads are part of the look, so the colour choice matters. Their purpose is practical, though: when the bike falls, they are meant to make contact first and can reduce the damage to the frame and bodywork.

Soft Tarmac and a Small Side Stand

Summer heat is not the only culprit. Soft verges, fresh asphalt, sand and gravel all give way under a side stand, especially when the bike is loaded or parked on a slope. A simple side-stand plate, carried under the seat, spreads the load over a larger area. Otherwise, look for a solid surface: a kerbstone, a patch of concrete, a paved parking bay. Park the Shiver 750 facing uphill if the ground slopes, and leave it in first gear. When you return, check the stand before you get on, because a stand that has sunk will not hold the bike when you swing your leg over. If the bike has fallen, check the pads, the levers and the mirrors, and take a look at the indicator on that side.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists the TP052 for the Shiver 750 from 2007 to 2016. The manufacturer points out that some bikes need their fairing or bodywork drilled to fit its crash pads, and its list does not say which, so please ask us before ordering whether this applies to your Shiver 750. For the same bike, Accossato also makes the PF031 front and PP011 rear axle sliders. The TP052 is also listed in our shop for the Dorsoduro 750 and the Shiver 750 GT.

Road Approval

The TP052 comes without a German ABE, and we have no test certificate for it. We therefore offer it for track and competition use.

Scope of Delivery

Two TP052 crash pads with the anodised insert in the colour of your choice, and screw covers if you order that version.
