DescriptionThe whole story▼

Cheap bikes make good race projects, and the early Benelli TRK 502 has started to turn up in that role. Bought used, relieved of its luggage and its screen, fitted with sticky tyres, a 2016 to 2020 machine can be run in club sessions for less than the cost of keeping a sports bike on track. Accossato's EV2 racing material on the AGPA96 plate is the front pad for that build: the maker's competition mixture, matched to the shape the older TRK 502 uses.

Key Features

  • Front pads for the Benelli TRK 502 of 2016 to 2020, Accossato shape AGPA96
  • EV2 racing material, sold as an article in its own right
  • Meant for club events, timed sessions and track-only machines
  • Accossato ranks this material as the racing choice among its pad materials
  • Two pads per box, one caliper filled
  • Count what is fitted to the front wheel before deciding on quantities
  • OR and ST are the road materials, EV1 the middle ground, ZXC the other race option
  • No German ABE held; sold for competition use

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato keeps its notes on this material brief, presenting it as the racing member of a family that runs from town materials up to competition ones. The practical meaning is narrow and useful. A pad of this sort is formulated around repeated heavy use with the brake hot, and makes no pretence of being gentle on a cold morning. Buying it for a machine that spends the week commuting would be a mistake; buying it for one that spends Sunday doing timed runs is the whole reason it is sold separately.

Stopwatch Runs on a Used Machine

Club events reward preparation more than money. A used TRK 502 with tired fluid and unknown pads will not put in three consistent laps in a row, however brave the rider is. Sorting the front brake is where most of the gain sits: fresh fluid, clean pistons, a disc without a lip, and a pad material chosen for the temperatures the sessions actually reach. Once that work is done, the bike gives the same answer every time the rider reaches for the lever, and the stopwatch begins to reward consistency instead of punishing guesswork.

A race-prepared older machine still deserves the basic checks that road riders skip. Tighten the caliper bolts to specification and mark them, so a glance tells you nothing has moved. Watch how evenly the two pads wear across a weekend, because a lazy piston shows up far faster under competition use than it ever does on the road. Keep a note of how many sessions a set has done and retire pads on that record rather than on hope, and give every new set a few controlled stops before asking it for everything.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato catalogues this plate at the front of the TRK 502 for model years 2016 to 2020. Bikes built from 2021 onwards take the AGPA112 and fall outside this listing. At the rear, the same early machine is served by the AGPA42, while the newer version uses the AGPP95. The brand lists no disc for the TRK 502 in either form. On this plate, OR and ST cover road use and EV1 sits between the two worlds, with ZXC as the other competition material.

Road Approval

Documentation decides this question: we have none for the pad, neither a German ABE nor a test certificate, and it is therefore sold for competition use.

Scope of Delivery

One box holding two EV2 pads, enough to fill one front caliper on the TRK 502.
