DescriptionThe whole story▼

By the last lap of an enduro test in soft ground, the fastest line is often a deep rut cut by the riders ahead. Following it is easier than fighting it, until the rut bends where you do not expect or the left footpeg catches its wall. The Sherco SE 250 two-stroke then drops to the left, wedged in the rut, with the clutch lever often underneath. Accossato's C7283, listed for the SE 250 of 2014 to 2022, is a clutch lever milled from Ergal 7075 whose long, four-finger blade can fold on its joint.

Key Features

  • Folding clutch lever for the Sherco SE 250 two-stroke, 2014 to 2022
  • Replaces the standard lever at the original clutch mount
  • Four-finger blade length
  • Joint that lets the blade fold forward in a fall
  • Milled from solid Ergal 7075 in Italy
  • Blade in black, blue, orange or red above a dark base
  • For off-road use; no German ABE documented

Construction and Material Quality

Mud and ruts are no place for a flimsy lever. Accossato produces the C7283 by CNC machining in Italy from solid Ergal 7075, choosing the alloy for strength and low weight and aiming for a part that stays reliable. The finished lever divides into a base in a dark finish, which remains on the clutch pivot, and a coloured blade hung from it on a folding joint. As Accossato draws its clutch levers, the blade is long and sized for four fingers.

Stuck in Someone Else's Rut

Riding ruts is a skill of its own. Eyes up, weight on the pegs, throttle steady; the clutch keeps the drive smooth so the rear does not climb the rut wall. When the rut is deep, the bike almost steers itself, and the rider's job is to keep it upright and the engine in its power. A two-stroke like the SE 250 needs that clutch work, because letting the revs drop in a deep rut means losing drive at the worst moment.

When the bike does fall in a rut, it falls against the rut wall and often stays jammed there. Getting it out means lifting it with the wheels at different heights, and the lever on the lower side takes the load. If the Sherco lands on its left, the C7283's joint lets the blade fold forward, which gives it a better chance of surviving both the fall and the recovery. There is no guarantee, but when the Sherco SE 250 is finally upright, a working clutch gets you out of the rut and on to the next section.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists this clutch lever for the Sherco SE 250 two-stroke built from 2014 to 2022, at the original clutch mount. The brake lever for the same machine and years is the B8282, also a folding design. Black and orange are available for both, while blue and red are only offered on the clutch lever.

Road Approval

No German ABE is documented for the C7283. It is meant for off-road riding and competition; on a registered SE 250 it is not approved for public roads.

Scope of Delivery
