DescriptionThe whole story▼
A new clutch lever changes the feel of the left hand's work straight away, and on a Benelli BN 302 you notice it at the first set of traffic lights. The Accossato ESD037 is a CNC-machined aluminium clutch lever for the BN 302 of 2015 to 2017. It fits the original clutch mounting and has an adjuster for its distance to the grip. Two quick checks after fitting make sure that the clutch still separates and engages as it should, and only then is it time to set the reach to your hand.
Key Features
- Clutch lever for the Benelli BN 302, model years 2015 to 2017
- Fits the original clutch mounting
- Adjustable distance to the grip
- Blade lengths: short, standard (approx. 138 mm) and long, depending on colour
- Anodised in seven blade colours; hub always black
- CNC-machined from solid aluminium
- Fixed, one-piece blade
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato does not cast the ESD037. It starts from a solid blank of aluminium and mills the lever's outline on CNC machines, so the part is uniform throughout rather than formed in a mould. Anodising follows, the hub in black and the blade in the colour you choose. The hub carries the pivot and the reach adjuster, and the blade extends from it as one rigid piece, since the ESD037 is a fixed lever without a folding joint.
Two Checks After Fitting
Once the new lever is on, two simple checks show whether the clutch still does its job properly. The first concerns disengagement. With the engine running, pull the lever fully and select first gear: the bike should stand still without creeping, and neutral should be easy to find at a standstill. The second concerns engagement. With the lever released, the clutch must hold under acceleration, with the revs rising in step with the speed instead of flaring. If either check fails, adjust the clutch free play as the owner's manual describes, or let a workshop do it. Then turn to the reach adjuster and bring the blade to where your fingers want it. Repeat the first check afterwards, particularly if you set the blade close to the grip: the lever must still be able to free the clutch completely before it meets your fingers on the bar. On the BN 302, all of this can be done in the driveway at home.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the ESD037 for the BN 302 from 2015 to 2017, fitted at the original clutch mounting in place of the stock lever. The front brake of the same bikes is covered by the EDF016, which comes in the same colours and lengths.
Road Approval
No German ABE is documented for the ESD037, so we supply it for use on the racetrack.
