DescriptionThe whole story▼
A silencer sitting close to the rider's boot and the rear tyre needs a shield, and the standard plastic one is not made to sit against a Termignoni can. Part BW2408069X is the carbon fibre heat shield Termignoni builds for the BW24 and BW25 slip-on silencers on the BMW S1000RR.
Key Features
- Carbon fibre heat shield, part BW2408069X, with the mounting hardware for the Termignoni silencer.
- Made specifically for the BW2408040ITC and BW2508040ITC silencers — not a universal panel.
- Carbon handles the radiated heat without discolouring the way a painted steel shield does.
- Visible part of the tail section, so the weave is laid up to be seen rather than hidden.
- Accessory only — no silencer, no pipe.
Why a shield at all
The S1000RR carries its silencer high and tight under the tail, close to the rider's right heel and to the rear tyre. A bare can radiates onto both. The shield sits between them and keeps surface temperatures where they belong — on a track day with repeated hard sessions that is a comfort question, and on a road bike it protects the boot.
Check which silencer you have
This shield is cut for the BW24 and BW25 silencer bodies. It does not fit the BW26 complete systems or the BW27 slip-on kits, which have their own geometry. If you are unsure which can is on the bike, the part number is stamped on the inlet sleeve.
Carbon, and why it is not just for looks
A heat shield spends its life a few centimetres from a component that reaches several hundred degrees. Steel handles that but conducts it onward and discolours at the hottest point; plastic warps. Carbon fibre is a poor conductor, which is exactly what you want in a barrier, and it holds its shape through the thermal cycles of a race weekend. The weave also stays visible on a part that sits in plain sight above the rider's heel, which is why Termignoni lays it up rather than hiding it under paint.
What is in the box
The shield and its mounting hardware — the brackets, spacers and fasteners sized for the Termignoni can. Nothing else: no silencer, no pipe, no clamps for the OEM system. Fitting is a hand-tool job once the silencer is on the bike.
Fitment and Compatibility
BMW S1000RR and S1000R, model years 2019 to 2025, in combination with Termignoni silencer BW2408040ITC or BW2508040ITC.
Road Approval
A heat shield needs none of its own — but it does not make an unapproved silencer road legal either. Whether the bike may be used on the road depends entirely on the silencer it is fitted to.
