The GSX-S 1000/GT/GX listing is the touring end of this platform: same engine, same airbox, but a fairing, panniers and a rider who plans in days rather than afternoons. That changes the working life of the air filter more than any tuning change. A sport tourer covers its kilometres in long stages, often two-up and loaded, often in the spray and grit thrown up by motorway traffic, and far from the garage where the spare parts live. A Sprint Filter P08 PM236S will not make a loaded sport tourer quicker — nothing that drops into an airbox will. It removes one consumable from the list of things that can interrupt a long trip.
Key Features
- Dry P08 polyester: no oil to migrate onto the sensors, nothing to re-treat
- 5,050 litres per square metre per second, through a weave filtering at 80 microns
- Roughly double the filtering surface of other performance filters carries it
- The element alone changes — standard airbox, no modification, no remap
- Washable and reusable, designed to last the life of the motorcycle
- The date of purchase is where the two years of warranty start
Sustained load is a different kind of wear
An hour at motorway pace is not the same demand on an airbox as an hour in town, and not the same dirt either. High sustained mass flow pulls fine road dust deep into the media instead of leaving it on the face, and a loaded machine holds a higher average throttle to do it. The element loads steadily and silently, and the first symptoms — a softer top end, fuel consumption creeping up — read like weather or luggage. With a washable element the check costs a few minutes at the end of a stage, and a filter that has been blown through is back at its starting resistance.
One less part to source on the road
A paper element is a part number, and part numbers have opening hours. On a two-week trip that means carrying a spare, or hoping the town you are in stocks one. The P08 is a single layer of woven polyester, spun from threads of 22 microns and upwards, filtering dry — so servicing it needs an air line, or at a pinch water and mild detergent. No oil, no aerosol, no waiting. Sprint Filter measured four-layer oiled cotton at 76.42 per cent of 100-micron particles retained against 93.13 per cent for the dry P08, so the convenience does not come out of the filtration. If a route runs through heavy dust or wet gravel, the finer P037 and P14 exist for that, at 4,500 and 1,800 litres per square metre per second against the P08's 5,050 — more retention, less flow, a trade rather than an upgrade.
Care and cleaning
Compressed air from the clean side outwards, and the PM236S goes back in dry. When a stage has earned more: lukewarm water, a mild detergent, a rinse until the water runs clear, then open air until it is completely dry — never heat, never a flame. The maintenance sheet is in the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
Made for the Suzuki GSX-S 1000/GT/GX, 2022 to 2026, as a direct replacement in the standard airbox. Four machines on this platform share the element; the complete list is in the Fitment tab.
