Four lines, four sets of model years, one part number. The ambiguity is real, and the resolution is dull in the best possible way — whichever of them is in the garage, the panel that comes out of the airbox is replaced by the same panel, CM13S. A name cannot separate these motorcycles. It does not have to.

Key Features

One layer of woven polyester, used dry and never oiled at any point

Filtration at 80 microns with 5,050 litres per square metre per second of flow

Thread from ø 22 microns upward; the 80 micron figure describes the weave, not the fibre

Roughly twice the filtering surface of other performance filters

Direct replacement in the series airbox: no modification, no remap, homologation as before

Cleaned instead of replaced, for the life of the machine; two-year warranty

When a model name is not an identifier

Naming is where filter buying goes wrong, and a superbike-derived naked is the worst case of it: badges are reused, suffixes come and go, and a search on a name returns several answers that all look plausible. The way out is mechanical rather than clever. Read the number moulded into the element currently in the airbox if there is one, note the model year on the registration document, and match both against the entry before ordering. Two minutes with the seat off outranks any amount of catalogue browsing.

What the dry weave changes

Oiled cotton gauze works by making the air sticky, which puts a consumable film in the intake path immediately ahead of the throttle bodies. The P08 has no such step: it is woven polyester used dry from the first kilometre, regenerated with an air line. Sprint Filter measured four-layer oiled cotton retaining 76.42 per cent of 100 micron test particles against 93.13 per cent for the dry weave. What none of it does is add power — a panel inside an unaltered airbox leaves a standard 848 making what it always made. The return is a low intake resistance that a cleaning restores rather than one that only drifts upward.

Care and cleaning

Compressed air on the clean face, worked outwards, so the dust leaves the way it arrived; that covers most services. Where a season has left a film behind, lukewarm water with a mild washing-up detergent lifts it, rinsed until the water runs clear. The element then dries in open moving air, and only that — no heat gun, no radiator, no flame — before it is refitted dry and untreated. The Sprint Filter maintenance sheet is in the Downloads tab.

Fitment & Compatibility

Cut for the airbox of the Ducati Streetfighter 848 of 2011 to 2015. Eighteen motorcycles share this housing across two marques, twelve Ducati and six Bimota, and every one of them takes this element; the full list is in the Fitment tab.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0949/7831/0410/files/CM13S_af51ddd2-7c2e-4c00-9d4b-f324345a2a6b.png?v=1787146068
