DescriptionThe whole story▼
A stainless steel bracket, forty-six euro, and the reason a 2010 CBR 1000 RR can wear the same Spark system as a 2018 one.
Key Features
- Exhaust hanger in stainless steel for the Honda CBR 1000 RR.
- Allows Spark's racing full system to be installed on 2008 to 2016 model years.
- Required for those years; not needed on 2017 to 2019 machines.
- Sold separately from the exhaust system.
- Made by Spark in Mantova, Italy.
What It Does
Honda changed the CBR 1000 RR's subframe and silencer mounting for the 2017 model year. Spark's racing system is built around the later geometry, and this hanger adapts it to the earlier one.
Spark's own description is one line: hanger allowing installation on 2008-2016 MY. There is nothing else to it — a bracket, in stainless, that puts the silencer where it needs to be on the older bike.
Which Systems It Is For
Spark's CBR 1000 RR racing systems on the shared AISI 304 collector: GHO8822T with the 350 mm Force silencer at 1.784 euro, and GHO8824T with the Konix at 1.844 euro. If you are ordering either of those for a 2008 to 2016 machine, this bracket goes in the same box.
One Thing to Know About Older Bikes
Fitting the system to a 2008 to 2016 CBR brings a second consequence that the hanger does not solve. Spark notes that on those model years the collector runs close to the oil filter, which means the exhaust has to come off to change the filter.
It is a service inconvenience rather than a defect, and it is better known before the first oil change than during it.
Stainless, Not Titanium
A hanger carries the weight of a silencer through every bump and every heat cycle, and stainless is the right material for that job. Spark builds the collectors of these systems in AISI 304 for the same reason.
Fitment & Compatibility
Honda CBR 1000 RR, 2008 to 2016, in combination with a Spark racing system. Machines from 2017 onwards do not need it.
Road Approval
Not applicable — this is a mounting bracket. The systems it is used with are racing parts without road approval.
