How Öhlins Makes Them
Machining, anodising, assembly and testing all happen in the same building rather than across a supply chain. Production is Öhlins' own in Sweden, and the tolerance on the rate is what separates these from a generic replacement. Every Öhlins dealer can re-valve the unit, because the shim stack is a documented, serviceable assembly.

How a Rear Spring Works
The damper can only control the spring it is given; the wrong rate makes every setting a compromise. Because the linkage is progressive on most modern machines, a small change in rate moves the sag more than riders expect. Öhlins supplies most of its shocks without a spring precisely so the rate can be matched to the rider rather than averaged.

What Fitting Involves
A spring that is the correct length still needs the preload spacer checked, since installed length is what sets sag. Öhlins states an air gap for this application, and that figure is part of the setting rather than a detail. Any suspension workshop can fit these; the fork does not need to leave the bike for long.

Road approval: no separate certificate. The spring changes the rate, not the construction of the fork, and is treated as a service part.
