Function
At 16.1 mm, 1.6 mm, NBR 70 it fits one position only; the next size up carries a different number. An oil seal that has hardened lets the shaft pass oil past it, and the damping fades long before the leak becomes visible. An O-ring seals by being squeezed into its groove; the cross-section is therefore as important as the diameter. The dust seal does the hard work: it keeps the grit that would score the shaft away from the oil seal.
