The piston carries the shim stacks and meters the oil; its port layout is what makes an Öhlins damper behave the way it does.

Key Features

Thread M7

Original Öhlins service part

Dimension B 1.1 mm

Öhlins part number 60161-05

Dimension A 7 mm

Function

At 7 mm, 1.1 mm it fits one position only; the next size up carries a different number. Rebuilding a piston means keeping the shim order, because the stack is the tuning. Jets meter fixed bleed flow and are sized in tenths of a millimetre. Needle geometry sets the shape of the adjustable range, not just its size.

Why the Original

Öhlins manufactures service parts on the same lines as production parts — there is no second quality. The alternative to a service part is usually a new damper, which is why this catalogue exists. If you are unsure which number your unit takes, send us the model and serial number of the damper and we will look it up. Öhlins numbers do not follow a logic you can guess — always read them from the documentation.

How to Be Sure It Fits

If the unit is already open, compare the dimensions below with the part in your hand before ordering 60161-05. The published dimensions are dimension a 7 mm, dimension b 1.1 mm — measure the old part against them if you are unsure. Port area sets how much oil can pass before the shims begin to lift. Twin-tube pistons have separate paths for compression and rebound, which is the whole point of the design.

Fitting and Setup Service

If you would rather not open the damper yourself, we can do it — we are an authorised Öhlins service centre and rebuild these units as a matter of routine.

Specifications

Brand: Öhlins

Part Number: 60161-05

Category: Jets

Dimension A: 7 mm

Dimension B: 1.1 mm

Thread: M7

Country of Origin: Sweden

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0949/7831/0410/files/60161-05_e618b23d-3b42-4336-b288-78db28882e18.png?v=1788878643
